  • EP12 - Rick Marchand of Wildertools, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia
The hosers go East to have a sit down with Rick Marchand of Wilderknives. This week we sat down with Rick Marchand of Wildertools. Located in Lunenberg, Nova Scotia, Canada
Rick has been at the forefront of the Canadian knife making scene for quite some time now. Studying under Waley Hayes during the time he resided in Ontario. Rick works with all sorts of mediums and thus makes almost everything he does with his own hands. Leather, wood, ferrous and non ferrous metals. This guy is busy as heck and you can see from his work that this man is about as dedicated as you can get.
This wasn't a short episode and as always we could have kept going. We are sincerely enjoying ourselves. Maybe too much as you will hear a lot of laughs on this episode. It helps that Rick is practically the Grand Daddy of Dad jokes and comes in with a very welcoming demeanour. If you have ever met Rick you know exactly what I am talking about. Take a listen and find out for yourself just how great this guy is and just how much the boys from forge side chat like to drink too much beer. Twice. In metric.

  • Ethan Harty of Alberta & Mark Ling of Texas
Two members of the illustrious Chain Gang hang out with the Two Hosers and discuss their lives as young but notable blacksmiths. Of course we talk about tools and what's going on in the shop and just life in general. Ethan tells a story about his massive steam hammer he brought up from the states during his second chain gang tour and how it almost ended up not making it home with him. Dang kid. Lol. Mark then goes on to tell us about the straw that broke the camels back. Actually it's not broken and the Camelback story is one of those stories that just makes you realize how awesome our community is! Most of us give our shoutouts, but Lando has a few beers(twice) and forgets to do his. Keep your eyes peeled for the next episode to drop and hit us up with recommendations, questions or just say hi [email protected]

  • Jeremy Yelle of Yelle Cultlery, Sherbrooke Quebec
The hosers finally break into the province of Quebec. They drink some maple syrup and get chatty with Jeremy Yelle of Sherbrooke Quebec.  Jeremy has a fricken hosehead experience he tells us all about and then Lando decides he better one up his smarts and tells a story that could have gone much much worse. Shop safety was a big one in this episode. Jeremy is moving to a new big shop so we talk about that a bunch meanwhile Justin pulls out his hair because he is trying to figure out his shop and how to make things all come together. Jeremy is a young and enthusiastic knifemaker that has gotten some real good experience under his belt already. Kick back and listen to find out just exactly how Jeremy has managed to stack his life to become the amazing young man he is today.

  • Graeson Fehr of Fehr Forgeworks, Winnipeg, Manitoba
The hosers chat with local Winnipeg bladesmith, Graeson Fehr of Fehr Forgeworks.  Graeson goes into detail about his new worker space at North Forge in Winnipeg Manitoba. North Forge is considered one of North America's largest maker spaces and Graeson has his shop set up within their facility now. While he can't forge there he explains how he manages to get around that and still prosper as a knifemaker. Listening to this young man speak of his journey in knife making is very encouraging. From playing with a smelt as a young man to his decision of becoming a full time knife making business(while he is in university!). Lots of knowledge dropped so get your headphones ready and kick back while two hoseheads serenade you with their hoserness.

  • Sandra Dunn of Two Smiths, Kitchener, On.
The two hosers, Justin and Lando, interview Sandra Dunn, artist blacksmith of Two Smiths from Kitchener, Ontario.  Sandra is the main operator of Two Smiths. She goes into a bit of detail as to how the business came to be and where it is now. With two others in the shop fabricating and hosting classes with her she has quite the business on her hands. She is no stranger in the Blacksmith community as you will hear with the work she did on a massive collaboration in Belgium. A shout out to one of our founders in the podcast world, Victoria Patti! Victoria was the host of Blacksmither Radio and definitely paved the path for a blacksmith podcast. Much love for the work she has done for the community!
