  • Episode 069 "The Adoption Journey" Director of Child Advocacy Tanya Houk and Morgan Moore

Tanya and her family have been so supportive of the Fort Worth Roots Podcast. It was an honor to have this trail blazer on our humble show. We look forward to having our new friend on dozens of times in the future to talk about child advocacy and anything else in the future. People like Tanya deserve our attention. Tanya, thank you so much for being a part of Fort Worth Roots and thank you for what you do!!!!!  Here is the bio for Tanya:

Tanya Houk is the Director of Child Advocacy at The Gladney Center for Adoption.  She has worked in the field of child welfare since 1998 placing older and special needs children into permanent adoptive families.

Over the last 24 years, Tanya has been dedicated to recruiting and supporting volunteer Transitional Care Families that care for children awaiting adoption through Gladney.  In 2000 Tanya helped to initiate Gladney’s first Foster to Adopt Program so that children living under the State’s protection can move past foster care and find their forever permanent family.

Did I forget to include something? Let me know please! [email protected] About the show! This Interview style podcast or variety interview podcast originates out of Fort Worth Texas. We've recorded episodes in the Fort Worth Stockyards, many homes and offices, we've traveled all over the DFW area, and now currently we have set up shop in Austin Texas at the foot of the Hill Country. Its always been the purpose of the show to be a true mobile podcast with a mobile podcast studio. While we grow the show and continue to make friends, we are in the process of what one of our guests calls "bridge building". Simply put, bridge building is the process of working on your dreams while maintaining your day job! Andrew Turner, the host of Fort Worth Roots, is no stranger to the perils of being in business for himself. His first business was a landscape design business that landed him a role on HGTV with Andy and Ashley Williams on the show " Flip or Flop Fort Worth. Andrew and his little company appeared on 6 episodes of the show. This was the first time he had been part of a production this size. Eventually the show was finished filming and two years later Andrew left the world of landscape design. With experience in a dozen or more industries Andrew finds it easy to connect with almost all of his guests. The show continues to evolve and change with each episode. Bringing more interesting content to every recording is the goal and maintaining a feel of authenticity is paramount. We hope you enjoy the show and, we would love to hear from you! This Texas Based Podcast grows best when people tell us what the enjoy or what they cannot stand. Let us know. Email us, [email protected] . Do you think you would like to be a guest on a podcast? • Episode 068 "Fort Worth Author" The Prolific Mark A. Nobles

This is the reason we keep making new episodes on Fort Worth Roots. Conversations like this are what we hunt for. The incredibly imaginative local author, film maker, educator, and friend Mark A. Nobles joins us today. He was kind enough to give us time to record with him and pick his brain about two of his works of art. We discuss " Fort Worth's Rock and Roll Roots" and "We're For Smoke", two historically heavy pieces of literary art that focus on the city that we love so much.  Mark thank you so much for being part of the Fort Worth Roots Podcast!!

  • Episode 067 "Veteran Entrepreneur" Dustin Stewart (Extra Episode)

Dustin Stewart, founder of Squad STX and guitarist for  Bluelight 100's. This local band is fairly new but this artist is already looking for more Fort Worth locations to jam at. In our last episode (#066) Dustin and Jake play for us at the home studio and share a little about who they are and where they are headed. To find their music and see what they have coming up next go to their link tree: https://linktr.ee/Bluelight100s.

In this episode Dustin and Andrew sit back and casually discuss the decay of our dystopian society. Not a typical Fort Worth Roots episode but definitely a fun talk. Very grateful to have Dustin back with us for his second recording and we're looking forward to having him and Jake back real soon!
