Torah Portion "שמיני/Shemini” which means “Eighth” delivered on April 10, 2021.This week's portion covers Leviticus 9:1-11:47 and begins, "And on the eighth day it came to be that Mosheh called Aharon and his sons and the elders of Yisra’ĕl."This week's Torah portion is called Shemini and it means The Eighth. Torah Portion "'ויקרא/Vayikra" which means "And He Called" delivered on March 20, 2021.This week's portion begins the book of Vayikra/Leviticus and covers 1:1-6:7, beginning with, "And יהוה called to Mosheh, and spoke to him from the Tent of Appointment, saying, "This week we are starting the third book of Torah called Vayikra/Leviticus. In connection to it being the third book, the third letter of the Hebrew alephbet is Gimel (ג) which represents greatness, and that is what we find in this book.Pastor Richard starts this teaching by asking "why" וַיִקְרָא/vayikra? This is the foundation. Moshe was humble, he was meek, this is what is called being minimized.  He shows that in the Hebrew we find a small Aleph at the end of the word which represents that Moshe was humble, in fact he was the most humble. Moshe was worthy of having a high status but he reached his greatness because of his smallness. Those in the world want to be exalted, but Hashem through Moshe taught the Israelites to be humble.Pastor Richard also shows why sacrifices were needed and what they represent. Why sacrifice to HaShem at all? He owns the entire world and everything in it. Pastor explains that a sacrifice undergoes all 4 of the death penalties required by mankind, brought on by their sin. He explains what a korban and korben are and how this ties into Yeshua and why He is the ultimate korban for mankind!Pastor Richard concludes with the reasons for sacrifices. The nation of Israel just came out of Egypt and had learned those ways of worship and sacrificial system. Torah Portion "'Vayachel (ויקהל)" which means "And he assembled" delivered on March 13, 2021.This week's portion covers Exodus/Shemot 35:1-40:38 and begins, "And Mosheh assembled all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl, and said to them, “These are the Words which יהוה has commanded you to do: "This week we have a double Torah portion: Vayachel which means “He/It will gather” and Pikudei which means “to command, visitation, to account.” So this week we get an understanding that “He will gather to take an account.” This is in the Kingdom of Hashem.Pastor Richard explains that Hashem's desire is to rebuild the fallen Tabernacle of David. He also explains the Sabbath and what is meant by the commandment “you shall not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day."  He references Isiah 19:11 and Jeremiah 10:21 to show that the fire of dissension should not be kindled on the Sabbath day, the fire of dissension that is ignited by idle talk!Pastor Richard explains that the theme for both Parashas is the accountability of the assembly. We are to be one, and not argue and separate. This is required in the rebuilding of the Tabernacle. Hashem's Kingdom is one of order and accountability. Moshe gave an accounting of all the gold, silver, bronze, linen, stones, everything that the nation of Israel gave in the building of the Tabernacle. Torah Portion "'כי תשא/Ki Tisa" which means "When you take [a census]" delivered on March 6, 2021.This week's portion covers Exodus/Shemot 30:11-34:35 and begins, "And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying, 'When you take the census of the children of Yisra’ĕl, to register them, then each one shall give an atonement for his life to יהוה, when you register them, so that there is no plague among them when you register them.' "In our Torah teaching this week Pastor Richard shows how there is still significance today in regards to the golden calf which was made because of Moses' delay in returning to the people: Moses' delay caused the people to fear. Yeshua's delay in returning has caused fear within the body of Christ and we have forgotten, broken the covenant in the same way that Israel did!Fear was the motivator in the making of the golden calf, it persuaded the people to break the covenant with HaShem, it caused the people to be put to shame. The golden calf was a mask which allowed the mixing of what HaShem taught and what the people wanted to worship. The people told Aaron how to do his job and this isn't any different today. The real teachings of Torah were hidden and mixed with the people's doctrines, they fashioned something different! Pastor Richard explains that the nation of Israel was influenced by the mixed multitude that came out of Egypt with them. He explains the connection of taking Joseph's bones with them when they left Egypt. Pastor Richard explains how the proclamation to make a feast to the golden calf is changing the character of HaShem and how this is mixing His true faith with what the people demanded, which is corrupt! When we change HaShem's true faith by adding to or taking away from His commandments and His feasts we have corrupted the character of HaShem. This Torah teaching is amazing and will be an eye opening experience! Torah Portion "'תצוה/Tetzaveh" which means "You shall command" delivered on February 27, 2021. This week's portion covers Exodus/Shemot 27:20-30:10 and begins, “And you, you are to command the children of Yisra’ĕl to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light, to cause the lamp to burn continually."In this week's Torah portion, Pastor Richard shows how the portion ties into the parable of the wedding feast found in Matthew 22. The wedding guests were found to be unworthy, so everyone else was called. But not everyone was accepted; the wedding garments were required to be worn, and not everyone was adorned with them. So what is HaShem establishing? No temple means no redemption!Each of the High Priest's garments had a symbolic message to the nation of Israel. Pastor Richard gives an understanding to the two onyx stones (the ephod), one with the names of 6 of the sons and the other with the names of the other six sons. The requirement of Israel to make the garments is for them to atonement for the idolatry of the golden calf incident. All Israel is accountable to each other.Pastor Richard also explains the Breastplate of Judgment and why Aaron was to wear it over his heart. It is a shield, reference Hebrews 9:11-12 for the understanding of how this ties us to our Messiah. The corruption of justice will be restored with righteous judgment.The conclusion will explain the Urim and the Thummin which has a much deeper meaning than just the light and perfection! The nation of Israel did not make these two items, they were a secret of heavenly origin. This understanding goes all the way back to Genesis 1:3 which shows that the Messiah is the light and perfection as found in John 8:12 and Hebrews 5:8-9!Pastor Richard ends with the Alef and the Tav, the first and the last, the Alpha and the Omega. The judge of Israel is the Alef Tav; the judge is our Messiah Yeshua! Be blessed with this study, shalom!Our Haftorah from Ezekiel 43:10-27 is delivered by Sister Alpha, and Brother Mark teaches us the Brit Chadesha Edrash from Philippians 4:10-20.We hope and pray that you find blessing in our teachings.
