During the times of 1st and 2nd Kings in Israel and Judah, wicked kings who intermarried with the surrounding pagan nations began to introduce pagan worship.

The idols that they began to worship led the children of Israel into rampant immorality and child sacrifice.

When this kind of pluralism is brought into a society that had been the worship of only Almighty God, it requires tolerance.

That morality is relative - what is considered moral for you.

That there are many ways to God.

But tolerance, by it's very nature, requires the removal of absolute truth; and those who preach absolute truth must not be tolerated.

Our pagan culture desperately needs a church that will be willing to stand up in truth, rebuild the altar of the Lord, and call the church back to the old ways and repentance.

But how do we do that?

In today's podcast, I share about how the church can rebuild the altar of the Lord and be filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit and revival, to be a shining beacon of God's glory in this pagan, pluralistic culture.

We don't know a lot about Jabez, because there are only a couple of verses that talk about Jabez; but we do know that his mother had a very difficult delivery with him, with a lot of pain.

Jabez means "He will cause pain".

That must have caused some interesting times for him as a child; but he didn't allow the meaning of his name to dictate his life and future.

And his prayer reflects his pursuit to live a life that pleased God.

There is so much we can learn from his prayer, and that is what I share in today's podcast; how you can use the prayer of Jabez as a template your own prayer life to help you move from a place of pain to a place of victory in Christ Jesus!

Sometimes we allow the stuff of life distract us, and down the road we remember the commitments we once made, and it feels like the great things that led to that commitment have faded.

We have to stick to the commitments we made. We need "stick-to-it-evness".

We need to commitment that in this hedonistic, post-modern culture, we're going to live a life of holiness and purity.

All throughout God's Word, we read that God hears and answers our prayers.

But there are times when we pray for something, even for a long time, and we don't seem to receive an answer. Why is that?

Mark 11:24 says: "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them."

Many times, we pray for a need, but throughout the day our self-talk and conversation reveals that we don't have faith that God will answer our prayer.

We prayed for the need that morning, and then turned around and began whining about our problem.

God wants us to pray faith-filled prayers! He wants us to believe that He hears and that He will answer.

That is what I share in today's podcast: How we can pray faith-filled prayers and maintain faith in our praying, even when the answer doesn't come right away.

In church history, we read about how whole communities and cities were completely transformed by spiritual awakenings; so much so, that bars were completely closed, police stations had no work, and jails were empty.

How does that happen?

Even more so, how can we see that kind of transformation today in our own communities? Do the principles that apply to this kind of transformation apply also to our homes and families?

There are three principles that have to be in place for this kind of transformation through interdiction in prayer.

And this is what I want to share with you in today's podcast, because I want to see God's people rise up in the power and might of the Holy Spirit, partnering with God in powerful prayer, to win cities for Jesus Christ!

When you sign His name, He will do do it

Jesus disciples came to Jesus and asked Him, "Teach us to pray the way John taught his disciples to pray".

Prayer is not caught, it's taught. We often think that when someone receives Jesus Christ as their Savior, they will automatically learn how to pray.

But just the same way we teach our children how to speak, we have to teach new believers how to pray.

So, Jesus responded to them by giving them three things:

Jesus wanted them to know that prayer works; and He wants you to know that prayer works.

If you look at marriages today, it is clear that we are in trouble.

If you look at young people today and the pressure they're under in this hedonistic, sexualized culture, you can see that tremendous trouble lies ahead.

If you look at our country and the horrible division we are in right now, we're in trouble already.

And prayer is the only thing that will change it.

God gave us a promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that if His people who are called by His name will humble themselves and pray, and seek His face and turn from their wicked ways, then He would hear from heaven and forgive our sin and forgive our land.

God has already given the answer.

We are not without hope, but God's people must pray!

When the devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness, he first challenged Jesus' identity, then he challenged him in the flesh, lastly, he challenged him with pride.

But how did Jesus combat the devil's attack?

"It is written..." Each time, he defeated him by the words of His mouth. He declared his true identity and the Word of God. He countered every temptation with the truth.

This is one of the most powerful weapons we have in are arsenal.

"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death." Revelation 12:11

The power of our testimony. The power of our tongue.

How do we do use this powerful weapon? That is what I am talking about in today's podcast.

If you want to be used wholly for God's use, you have to be made holy by the blood of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. God has judicially declared us to be holy, but now our behavior needs to become holy.

The way we consistently live holy is by getting our mind holy. That's why Paul said that if we want to put off the old man and put on the new man, we have to do it by renewing the spirit of the mind.

If we continue to identify with the behavior, worldview, and social life of our generation then we're still living by the old mind - by the old man.

But God wants us to start living by the new mind - the new man.

How do we do that?
