Building on the homilies from the past two weeks, Fr. Sibley offers a message of hope. Instead of letting shame and guilt cripple you spiritually, he urges humility and The Little Way of St. Therese of Lisieux as a means of clinging to Christ.

The Pareto Principle is better known as the 80/20 rule - 80% of effects come from 20% of causes. This is especially true in the Church.

Father looks at today's gospel - the parable of the workers - through the Pareto Principle and gives suggestions on how the 80% in the Church can become part of the 20%.

In 1999, I took a pilgrimage to Naples, Italy for the Feast of St. Januarius in hopes of witnessing the blood miracle. In this homily I tell two stories from that trip - one how St. Januarius saved me from choking on a cheese ball and the other about the miracle St. Januarius could not work.

"Wrath and anger are hateful things, yet the sinner hugs them tight." (Sirach 27:30)

It might be anger. It might be gluttony. It might be lust. What sin are we

hugging tight" and refusing to let go of and give to Christ? Why did we find it so hard to let go of these sins? What are the impacts of hugging these sins tight? How can we learn to loosen our grip and give them to Jesus?

In our culture of pervasive eroticism, the witness of virginity speaks louder than any homily on chastity or the meaning of the body. During this Mass, a young woman made a private vow of virginity in preparation for becoming a consecrated virgin.

In a culture (and a church) that seems to highly value extraversion, what role do introverts have to play? Comparing St. Peter to Our Lady, Fr. Sibley looks at the importance of introverts in the church and in evangelization.

It's important for us to resist the contemporary temptation to treat the Pope as more of a celebrity than a shepherd. Jesus founded the Church on the Rock of St. Peter, not Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Jesus appears to be a jerk to the Canaanite woman in today's gospel. Of course we know Jesus is not really being a jerk, but is trying to teach the apostles - and us - a lesson.
