Do you know who this fellow is? He’s trumpeter Frankie Newton and he gets a birthday salute for the first time on this week’s show. He was brought to my attention through an excellent article in the July 2021 issue of The Syncopated Times, written by Steve Provizer. His life is difficult to summarize, so I don’t even try on the show, but direct you to the Syncopated Times article, available here.
