Rebecca Hall was the blessing they were waiting for as she brought the film to the highest possible level, with an outstanding performance.
Christine. The early 1970s. Christine Chubbuck is a young journalist, awkward and introverted. She works for a local broadcaster in Florida and despite her desire to grow professionally, she is in conflict with the TV director, who wants news items which grab the spectators’ attention, to the detriment of the quality of the news. Deeply hurt, already unstable and insecure because of her inability to make friends with the others, Christine falls into a state of neurosis which leads her to commit a shocking act on live TV. Based on a true story.

PODCAST | Chiara Nicoletti interviews Michael O’Shea, director of the film The Transfiguration.
The 34th Torino Film Festival is the tenth festival that Michael O’Shea participates to with his first feature film The Transfiguration. It all started at the last Festival de Cannes where the film was screened in the Un Certain Regard section. At the Torino Film Festival, this story of a young boy escaping reality and pretending to be a vampire, is programmed in the perfect section for a horror film, Afterhours. The choice of the horror genre can be easily defined as a device to actually tell a very profound and troubled coming of age story that O’Shea dedicated to all the people, especially adolescents, that are struggling to find their place in the world and feel like outsiders.
The Transfiguration. Adolescent Milo lives an isolated life in New York: a friendless orphan, he is the victim of violence and bullying at school. His only refuge is his brother’s apartment, where he escapes his solitude and frustration by immersing himself in the world of vampires through movies and novels. When he meets Sophie, the next-door-neighbor, unfamiliar feelings are sparked in him. This is an unexpected change for Milo and it forces him to control the secret, disquieting urges which prey on him.

Fred’s Chiara Nicoletti meets the real Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the pilot who, in 2009, saved the lives of 150 passengers of the US Airways flight 1549 by landing on the Hudson River after a bird strike irrevocably damaged the plane. In the film captain Chesley is played by the Oscar winner Tom Hanks. Clint Eastwood based his new film Sully on the captain’s book “Highest Duty”that described what happened after the heroic gesture in the days following the extraordinary event. Cold blood and problem solving are capacities and abilities that we all can acquire with time and experience or are a talent that we can only improve? Sully has all the answers and they are the right ones.
Sully. On January 15th, 2009, US Airways flight 1549 took off from LaGuardia airport in New York, heading to Charlotte, North Carolina. There were a hundred and fifty passengers on board of the flight piloted by Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger and copilot Jess Skiles. But a flock of birds flew into the plane engines at 2,800 feet, forcing the pilot to perform an emergency water landing, which he executed perfectly. Everybody on board survived in what became known as the “Miracle on the Hudson,” all thanks to Sully’s pilot skills and experience. The incident, however, had an emotionally devastating effect on the captain, especially after a few witness reports put his career and reputation in jeopardy and he was summoned by the National Transportation Safety Board to defend his actions.
