“Yeah, and I mean, that's the basic argument,” said DeAngelis. “Whenever you push someone for a long enough time, someone who's defending the government-run school system, their argument tends to end up somewhere along the lines of, ‘Well there's information assymetry is in the education market.’ If you're speaking to an economist or they'll just say these low income families are just, either not smart enough, or they just don't have the information, is the argument.”

So if you've attached meaning to "things", and your gratitude has been centered on that stuff, gratitude will feel like it’s not “working.” Nor will gratitude "work" if you solely focus on those who have it "worse" than you, because you might use it as an excuse for guilt and stagnation.
