Action packed episode!!! We wish Trent and co a HAPPY RAD BIRTHDAY to one of our favourite albums, and unpack some great memories of a magical time. We also…sigh over the initial images released from the new Crow remake film. But we get all kinds of RAD as we dive into a Cannon Films classic and a film that really set the standard “AMERICAN NINJA”. We got a lot of love for this GI JOE themed action extravaganza and we’ll share the love right here right now!

This week on the FREEKY FRIDAY show, we are joined once again by SFX wizard and good mate, Chad Atkinson. “Land of the Dead”(2005) is hands down George Romero’s action packed entry in his Dead series and Chad worked on this one!! So, it was only fitting to get the man back on to share some tales and insights on working on some of the amazing gore and zombies alongside Mr Romero and Greg Nicotero(The Walking Dead), as well as the master Tom Savini. So many cool stories and insights into what makes a zombie film like this blow our minds.

On this weeks episode, we pay tribute to the legend of Carl Weathers, with one of the most underrated and highly RAD action films, ACTION JACKSON. For whatever reason, this film was stacked against heavy box office competition and we feel didn’t get the love it deserves. We reminisce on lots of rad related memories of the glory days also as well as a JON BON JOVI action figure??? Tune and get RAD with us.

The third entry to the Romero “Dead” series sees us take a different kind of turn with an enjoyable and interesting story development in the series, whilst not quite as memorable as the previous two. However! Tom Savini provides the gore and practical FX that takes this film to a whole new level of genius. We also chat Bon Jovi and that new Exorcist film that Jake hated a lot. Enjoy!

Deliveries, a dive into our love the X-Men “Inferno” series of the 80s and why 80s series make so much more sense than now, a frolick through new reads in comic nerdville and more, before we discuss the awesomeness of Antonio Banderas and his 99 (severely underrated)blockbuster “The 13th Warrior”. A rare feat in a film where the lead actor stays humble and helps create equilibrium in such a great cast for a fantastic adventure film. Enjoy!

This sequel set the standard as an incredible follow up to the original NOTLD, and its bold social commentary that is deeply discussed many years later. A fantastic story and moment in time! We discuss this and the somewhat parallel but often different interpretations offered in the Snyder 2004 remake. An explosive action packed and violent retelling that doesn’t try to one up the original, but offer something new to the zombie mythos. We have risen from the grave again to bring you our first FREEKY episode for 2024, and dive into the zombie universe of the legendary George Romero. Kicking off this deep dive with the movie that changed the zombie cinema and set a standard that holds strong today. NOTLD(1968) is revolutionary and we tell you all the good stuff as well as the legendary Tom Savini remake of 1990, that we consider one of the greatest remakes ever. As always, a lot of fun and frivolous mayhem including childhood recollections of our first experiences seeing Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video and the Morri banter you know and loathe. Enjoy!
