Grab your deck, drop the fringe and be rad with your fave idiots as we recap the finale of the AWESOME finale of “X-Men 97” and then get nostalgic about the skateboarding culture of the 80s and bit, before discussing a criminally overlooked film “Gleaming the Cube”(1989). Starring Christian Slater and a very young Tony Hawk, right as both were on their respective upward star trajectory. This is more than a skate movie, it’s got a lot of cool elements and we had a rad time with this one, even if we both confess to being horrible skateboarders. Enjoy!

On this weeks slight detour episode, we pay tribute to the late great Roger Corman and his impact on Horror, as well as tribute to Susan Backlinie(Jaws). She will be forever remembered as the greatest Horror movie extra in one of the greatest scenes of all time. We chat the new Marvel “Blood Hunt” comic book event series, and other bits and pieces before chatting this weeks movie(not Ginger Snaps 2), “Van Helsing”(2004). Celebrating 20 years, we discuss the joy of a film packed with many beloved classic monsters, not see since Monster Squad. And we feel this movie may have been a little over-packed, but our critique’s are all out of the love we have for these characters and enjoy so much of what this film offers. Enjoy!

EPIC ROCK N ROLL EPISODE ALERT!!! This is one for the ages as we chat the Marvel crossover event that started it all with “Conquest of Champions”(1982). Jake tells us about the rad new Transformers comics making the rounds, before we salivate over one of the best rock albums of the 80s with The Cult’s ‘Sonic Temple’. Such a killer album! We also share our 10 individual picks for 80s power ballads. You’ll be surprised by some of our selections. We were. And then we finally get into this weeks rock n roll movie pick “Streets of Fire”. The 1984 rock epic featuring an all star cast and a killer soundtrack, as we discuss some interesting(and obvious) parallels with another Walter Hill classic “The Warriors”. This is a good one. A RAD ONE!!

We love this movie and give you all the best reasons why, as well as a bit of a fun feelgood Jake Time story from Halloween and my experience working with Alice Cooper. He worked as part of the KNB FX team, led by Greg Nicotero(The Walking Dead), who are behind so many great movies we love, including this overlooked gem. Chad gives some great insight into working behind the scenes on the practical effects, working with Rebecca DeMornay, as well as random laughs and even a humorous chat about penis props from Boogie Nights. Jake also expresses his disdain of the song “Road to Nowhere,” and the traumatic high school story behind such trauma(he blames Beavis and Butthead), the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul MASSACRE and we get into the soaring 1985/6 flyboy masterpiece IRON EAGLE. Starring the late, great Louis Gossett Jr and a cast of awesome for a movie that to many makes no sense, but on this show and in our collective hearts, makes all the sense! Not only do we discuss the brilliance of the 1987 severely criminally underrated vampire classic, “Near Dark”, and why it should be listed with “Fright Night” and “The Lost Boys” as the go to 80s vampire flicks. We also discuss the interesting parallels of The Lost Boys and Near Dark. Also, how rad half the cast of “Aliens” are in this, as well as the genius of Lance Henriksen and the late Bill Paxton(who we feel strongly, steals the show).We unpack quite a lot with giddy excitement, as well as discuss new comics and offer a pitch to Marvel for a new Ghost Rider film and why Norman Reedus would be an excellent cast choice. In this very RAD episode, we discuss the new X-Men 97 cartoon series that is brilliant and we share some fond memories, before chatting lots of Rad stuff and the underrated 90s Hard Rock band, Hardline, that segues nicely into this weeks movie “RAPID FIRE”(1992), starring the legendary Brandon Lee, in his breakout Hollywood action role. Included are an unforgettable cast and of course Hardline in the soundtrack which is rad asf, as the singer tells me Brandon was a fan(yes I spoke briefly to Johnny Gioeli, and we will be doing a follow up interview for the show). BIG EPISODE and we unpack a lot before we get into our final episode of our Romero-thon that is the “Dead” series. First off, Jake teases his elation of the X-Men 97’ cartoon series, before unleashing on the trailer for the upcoming Crow reboot. It’s a hot topic right now and we debate its relevance and service to the legacy. We also spring joy over the terrifying trailer for Alien: Romulus, that delivers just enough to bring back that loving feeling for one of our favourite franchises. We also discuss comics like the collected reissue of Faust(one of the best 90s Horror comics ever!), and express our theories of Marvels new “Blood Hunt” series. And then FINALLY, we close with the final instalment of the late great George Romero’s beloved “Dead” series with “Survival of the Dead”(2009). Is it the grand finale we hoped for or is it the vision of Romero that deserved more studio support as we discuss the enjoyment of the movie before closing our episode with and interesting topic of thought related to great visionaries like Romero and John Carpenter.
