一個愛台灣的法國人 Thomas，一個長住西班牙的台灣女孩 Polly，和一個1.5 代的美國台灣人Jenn 一起攤開來討論這個敏感的臺海問題。
I’ve recruited an interesting discussion panel to talk about the elephant in the room for global news - Taiwan/China tension.
Thomas is a French/Brazilian that's been living in Taiwan since 2016. After biking around the world, he settled in Taiwan. He works in sales for a sporting company and is currently taking a year break to be back home in France to spend some much-needed quality time with family post the pandemic. Being back in France right now is giving Thomas a first-hand perspective on how people in France view this current issue for Taiwan. In his spare time, he loves mountain biking around Taiwan.
Jenn is my super awesome "niece" and a 1.5-generation Taiwanese American that's currently working as a PM for a tech company in Taipei. If I ever have any questions about Taiwanese history/culture or where to eat/drink, she is my go-to girl! Even though she is my niece, we are actually closer in age than I and her mom (who is my cousin) so we often get together to hang out and chat about everything and anything. I am super excited to have her on the show!
And lastly, we have Polly who is Taiwanese-born and raised in Taiwan. She has been living and studying for her MBA in Spain. Polly is currently in Taiwan to see her family from the summer vacation so she has a lot to offer to this discussion panel since she's seen both domestic media in Taiwan, as well as foreign medias in Spain, portray this tension between Taiwan and China.

Today, in this segment, we are going to share with you some interesting fun facts about our
country!
1. Fun Fact number 1! 台灣人都超級愛吃 愛聊美食~ People in Taiwan really love food!

You should give it a try if you ever come to Taiwan!
2. Fun Fact number 2! 台灣公共交通工具非常方便！
Public transportation in Taiwan is amazingly efficient. You have easy access to
bicycles, buses, trains, metros and even high speed rails!
you can get from the top to bottom of the island in just 96 minutes if you take the
Taiwan High Speed rail!
3. Fun Fact number 3! 台灣人出去外面吃飯很喜歡搶賬單付錢~
Did you know people in Taiwan “fight” to pay a restaurant bill!
Taiwanese people are very hospitable and paying for someone’s meal is considered
a form of expressing love.
4. Fun Fact number 4! 在台灣,雨傘不只是在下雨天使用!
Here in Taiwan, umbrellas aren’t just for the rain.
Many people use umbrellas to avoid the sun on a sunny day!
5. Fun Fact number 5! 在台灣，我們在學校我們都會睡午睡！
Everyone takes naps after lunch every day at school – even in high schools! Don’t
worry, we don’t have beds in school,
we just put our heads down on the table during nap time!
In fact, a lot of the adults also get nap time after lunch at their work.
6. Fun Fact number 6! 台灣的垃圾車會唱歌!
Here in Taiwan, you know the garbage truck is coming when you hear Beethoven’s
classic “Fur Elise”! Everyone gathers outside to throw their trash and recycle daily.
7. Fun Fact number 7! 台灣到處都是便利商店！Convenience stores like 7-11 or
FamilyMart are everywhere!!! And people love it!
You can get everything from these stores, including buying train or concert tickets or
even getting your passport photo done!
8. Fun Fact number 8! 在台灣，我們去學校都穿制服！
Students wear uniforms to school – from preschool through high school.

9. Fun Fact number 9! 大家都會去公園一起運動！
People in Taiwan love to exercise, dance, and practice Tai Chi in the parks, And they
do it in groups!
