August 17, 2017 Ep 27: Tiny by Weyerbacher Brewing Company | W/ Guest Pete Clausen
It’s always 5 O’Clock on this podcast, and we’re doing something we’ve never done before. Since we found the beer last week to be so tasty, we thought it would only be right to try another brew from Weyerbacher Brewing Company. This week we’ll be sipping on “Tiny,” which is WBC’s Belgian Imperial Stout.
This 11.8% brew is anything but Tiny, and is a hearty ale with intense chocolate flavor notes. It is also complemented with cherry and Italian plum flavors which give it a notable fruity taste. This full bodied brew seems to almost melt in your mouth, as if it were a truffle with a boozy finish.
On this episode of Friends Drink Beer, Pete Clausen joins us from 101 Cider in Los Angeles to teach us a thing or two about beer. We discuss being King of The Moon, learn a bit of Egyptian Mythology and how it relates to beer, and try some of Pete’s home brewed Gruit Ale!

Hello to all the beer belly’s that don’t stick out as well as those who maybe DO stick out! Today, we try a Seasonal Sour Ale from Weyerbacher Brewing Company called Riserva. Riserva is a 10% Ale that is fermented with red raspberries along with lactic acid bacteria to give it a unique fruity taste and aroma. This beer is aged for over a year in oak barrels, and every batch is sure to be different than the year before, AKA give it a try, and make it a yearly tradition.
We were ecstatic to have our first fan of the show on the podcast, and it also helps that this fan is a super talented D00d. Connor Weinstein is the singer of the Los Angeles based modern pop/traditional rock group, “Next Door To The Moon”.
On this episode of Friends Drink Beer, we discussed what it would be like to be a tree, how Connor makes a two piece band work, and how to keep a friendship despite the other person wishing that things got romantic.

Hello ears everywhere! Today, we try a beer from a Vegan and Vegetarian friendly brewery called Three Magnets Brewing Company. Big Juice Smoothie Edition is an 8.5% IPA that is bursting with fruity flavor. The flavors to look for in this IPA range from mango, to cantaloupe, to grapefruit, papaya, peach, and even a bit of orange to finish it off. The fruit flavor is so strong that you may even question if this beer can even be considered an IPA.
This week we dived into whether or not someone with a mood ring business is marriage material, did a really poor impression of Michael Jackson guiding a blind person through Egypt (RIP of course), as well as gave some advice on how best to handle long distance relationships.

July 27, 2017 Ep 24: Coffee Porter by Smog City Brewing | W/ Guest Jared Brody
Hello adults 21 and older! Today, we try local beer from a brewery not too far from our home in Los Angeles called “Coffee Porter” by Smog City Brewing Company. Each barrel is brewed with over five pounds of coffee in order to enhance the flavor of dark chocolate and coffee. The flavor can be compared to that of chocolate covered espresso beans.
This is a cool episode for us, because we sat down with our “Head Of Research” here on FDB, Jared. You may notice from some of the credits, but Jared helps us get all our beer and brewery facts and comes up with all the insane “Would You Rather” questions.
This week we dived into wearing a catheter at the bar, what bed time stories get Alex and Ryan to fall asleep, and what the appropriate comment to leave someone on Instagram is when you don’t know them too well, but WOULD LIKE TO!

Hello kids! (who are over 21.) Today, we try a beer that has the AUDACITY to call us names to our face. I’d like to introduce “Who You Callin’ Wussie” by Arrogant Brewing. This beer has a golden pour accompanied by a lingering white head. The aroma resembles the taste of grassy/floral nodes with a hint of lemon. The finish is dry but crisp and leaves you with the taste of spicy hops
This is a very special episode for us, because we sat down with Singer/Songwriter & YouTuber, Alyssa Bernal. Alyssa and Alex met on YouTube 10 years ago when Alyssa was living in San Antonio. Today on this podcast, they were able to meet in person for the first time.

Happy Thursday to all my party people. Have you ever tried a Barrel Aged Sour Ale? Well neither have we, which is why we were intrigued! This week, Ryan and Alex delve into the appropriately named, “Life's Trade” by TRVE Brewing Company!
If you consider yourself a Metal-head, well then hell, TRVE is the brewery for you. They pride themselves on promoting the Metal-head counter-culture, and not taking themselves too seriously. Onto the beer! Since this beer is aged in wine oak barrels, it has a cloudy yellow, chardonnay-like pour and a bright taste. Flavors include that of lemon, vanilla, pineapple, wheat, and even an umami or savory hint to it. Lastly, because of the reduced oxygen exposure, the tartness of the beer is mitigated which in my opinion, is a really EXCELLENT touch.
If you know how Ryan and Alex episodes go, you know that things get weird really quick. This week we discuss having a girlfriend that insists on having the same haircut as you, that Sir Paul McCartney actually BREWS his own beer, and how to deal with an ex who is currently dating your best friend. (Or maybe now ex best friend?)

Hello all! We’ve done it. Friends Drink Beer, as of today, has released their 21st episode, WHICH MEANS, we are LEGALLY allowed to drink while we podcast. We’ve been flying under the radar for LONG ENOUGH, and we thank you for sticking with us!
Today, we try a modification of Taxman Brewing Company’s popular Exemption brew called “Triple Hopped Exemption". Let me tell you, this is easily one of my favorite Triples I’ve ever had. I’d recommend this to a girlfriend or friend that doesn’t drink beer too often. It has fruity pineapple flavor, along with papaya, orange peel, mango, and even a hint of cinnamon. This beer is finished with a nice bitterness, and a golden pour with an aroma of soothing jasmine.
We got a chance to sit down with an old friend, Monti Washington. For those that don’t know Monti: he is an actor, motivational speaker, and author. He’s been on the hit TV show, Mom with Anna Faris and Allison Janney, as well on the ever so popular Club Dead. His advice…I’ll tease as the best advice we’ve ever had on the show. If there’s one thing I want to advise, it’s that you NEED to follow this guy on Instagram, and get some of his daily words of advice and wisdom. @Montivation

Aloha beer gulpers! On this episode of Friends Drink Beer, we dive into our first Porter, and might I add, we started things off right! Pyroclastic Porter by Mazama Brewing is an extremely light bodied beer with hints of coffee, chocolate, and a delicious aftertaste of mocha. If you’re not typically a fan of Porters, I highly recommend giving this a shot to change your mind.
Today’s guest is a good friend of ours, Rob Pinkston. If you’re 90s kids like us, you may remember Rob as “Coconut Head” in the Nickelodeon Series, “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.”
In this episode of FDB, we did our best modern day interpretation of “Macho Man" on a date, we checked to see if Ryan’s hips do indeed lie, and we discussed the early years of Rob’s career & the unique audition that sealed the part of Coconut Head.
