In this episode I address an issue that affects each one of us: the comparison trap. When we compare ourselves with others we self-sabotage because we make ourselves feel unworthy and we fail to see our possibilities. But comparison can also open the doors to our subconscious beliefs, allowing us to reprogram our thoughts in a way that serves us. When we get passed the feeling of jealousy, we get to become more self-aware and actually empower ourselves to find solutions.

Here are a few prompts for you from this episode:

-What exactly triggered the feeling of jealousy?

-What do you make it mean about yourself? 

-What fear is behind it? 

-Is that fear justified?

-Think about your life 2 years ago… Has anything changed? If yes, has it improved?

-How would you act if you just knew for sure that it was all happening for you?

-What information do you need to get closer to what you want? Who can help you in this process? 

-What can you implement now? Who do you need to be?

In this last episode of the 3 part series "Finding your purpose", I help you figure out the two last components of the IKIGAI framework: what the world needs and what you can get paid for. Once you've completed all the exercises you should have narrowed down your ideal job options to 3 max.! Make sure you give this research and exploration phase time and dedication as it will help you avoid a lot of pain in the future.

Today's exercises:

Part 3 - What the world needs

-When you watch the news or a movie and you see images that make you react strongly internally, what’s usually the topic they’re addressing?

-Make a list of positive and negative topics that make you feel strong emotions.

-Think about the experiences in your life that have shaped you the most! 

What lessons have you learned from them? What insight or knowledge do you have that could be useful to someone else?

-Write down your top 3 role models. Think of the reasons you admire them so much, what they stand for and what they’ve achieved, how they behave and approach things.

-Looking at your answers, do you notice any pattern? Can you define better who or what you would like to help?

Part 4 - What you can get paid for

-Think about the last 3 parts: what you love, what you’re good at and what the world needs. 

Highlight your ultimate preference in each one of these categories.

-Research all job options that fit your first 3 IKIGAI categories. While doing so, keep your perfect work day visualisation in mind.

-Explore these options further by talking to people who actually do these jobs, taking free courses and/or volunteering. 

In this episode I guide you through a perfect word day visualisation to finish the part we covered in the last episode: what you love. This will help you identify your passions and interests further. I also share with you a simple way to uncover your unique talents and skills so you can define what you're good at. And just like that we already have completed two sections of the IKIGAI framework. 

For next week, make a list of all the skills you've developed in these 3 categories:

-Formal education/trainings/courses

-Work experience (including voluntary work)

-Personal experience (life challenges, accomplishments, hobbies)

Within these categories, you can divide the type of skills into 3:

-The course/role/topic

-Technical skills

-Transferable skills

Once listed, you can circle which ones you particularly enjoy using! 

Additionally, you can coworkers/friends/family to list your 3 biggest strengths according them and compare your findings with theirs.

-In which section of the book store do I tend to hang out? What’s so interesting about it?

-What kind of tasks/activities absorb me and make me forget time, hunger and sleep?
