A new colony of honeybees being hived. Donna received the Paul Overton award from the School of Continuing Education at EIU.

And a snake incident.

Over the past weekend we attended the Mother Earth News Fair in Asheville, NC. We have been long time Mother Earth News readers and also attend as many of the Fairs as possible. The Fair is for homesteaders, naturalists, market gardeners, beekeepers, those interested in self-sufficiency and sustainability as well as people interested in improving their health. There is truly something for everyone.

Our first annual Warm Up To Market event was a resounding success! Four vendors plus a collectable small engine demonstration joined us at the Farm Fresh Mercantile on April 13, 2019 for a beautiful day in the country. Bee My Honey, Prairie Pines Farm, Hazel Anne Farm, Whittaker Beef and Ted Miller offered information and wares to young and old.

In case you missed it, here is proof that grower MB had spinach as big as Donna’s head.
