  • From the Frontlines: Back to School for ADL Means Programs that Fight Classroom Antisemitism & Bias
"From the Frontlines" is an ADL podcast. It is hosted by ADL New York/New Jersey Director Scott Richman and focuses on ADL's efforts to fight hate and antisemitism in the United States and around the world. At this time of year, we are all focused on back to school. We at ADL see our elementary, middle and high schools as the place to make sure that our students learn how to recognize bias, bigotry, racism and antisemitism, the place where they come to understand that this has no place in society and the place where they learn techniques for confronting these ills. ADL touches millions of students each year in this country with a variety of education programs. This podcast offers an overview of them and features Ariel Behrman, ADL’s Director of Education Programs and Products. If you know a teacher or administrator, please consider passing this podcast along to them and suggesting that they bring these programs into their schools. For more information on ADL's education programs, visit https://www.adl.org/about/education. This podcast originally aired as a radio show August 25th on WVOX 1460 AM.

  • From the Frontlines: ADL Voices Concern and Takes Action as Jewish Students Return to Campus
"From the Frontlines" is an ADL podcast. It is hosted by ADL New York/New Jersey Director Scott Richman and focuses on ADL's efforts to fight hate and antisemitism in the United States and around the world. At this time of year, a frontline for ADL is our college campuses. As Jewish students start or return to universities, we worry that they will not be returning to spaces where they can comfortably be Jewish. ADL works with our partners on campuses, as well as the administrations, to ensure that those problems are mitigated, but the problem and the solution are much more complicated than that. Rabbi Ron Fish, ADL’s Eastern Division Director of Antisemitism Advocacy & Education, joined this week's podcast to help us understand the situation on campus and the steps that ADL is taking in response. For more information about ADL's campus programs, visit adl.org. If you are a campus administrator or Hillel Director and wish to attend the September 15th program mentioned in the show, simply write to [email protected] for more information. This podcast originally aired as a radio show August 25th on WVOX 1460 AM.

"From the Frontlines" is an ADL podcast. It is hosted by ADL New York/New Jersey Director Scott Richman and focuses on ADL's efforts to fight hate and antisemitism in the United States and around the world. There has been a general emboldening of extremists in the past few years in this country. Some of the most heinous examples of this are the white supremacists. ADL is on the frontline of this battle to track and counter white supremacists. One group, in particular, that has been especially heinous is the Goyim Defense League (GDL), which spends most of its time attacking Jews and monetizing those attacks. This show describes the GDL and their activities. It features Carla Hill, the Director of Investigative Research for ADL's Center on Extremism. For more information on the GDL, you can read the ADL backgrounder on the group at https://www.adl.org/resources/backgrounder/goyim-defense-league. • From the Frontlines: The 113th NAACP National Convention
"From the Frontlines" is an ADL podcast. It is hosted by ADL New York/New Jersey Director Scott Richman and focuses on ADL's efforts to fight antisemitism and hate in the United States and around the world. In the battle against hate, coming together in coalition is critical to have an impact. Among the many civil rights groups, faith groups and ethnic groups with whom ADL is proud to partner on issues that we share in common, one of the most important is the NAACP. This week, the NAACP is hosting their 113th National Convention after a hiatus during COVID, and ADL is a proud sponsor of this year’s Convention. The major gathering this year is taking place in Atlantic City which means that the New Jersey State Conference of the NAACP is hosting. ADL New York/New Jersey partners closely with the NJ NAACP. At the center of all of this is Richard Smith, the President of the New Jersey State Conference of the NAACP. He is the guest on this edition of "From the Frontlines" to discuss this year's Convention. For more details on the NAACP National Convention, visit https://naacp.org/convention. Social media is a major frontline these days in the battle against hate and antisemitism. While it has many benefits and gives people a voice, it also gives haters a voice. Once a year for the past four years, ADL has surveyed this community to discern the degree to which people are experiencing hate and abuse on line. We just released the survey results for this year, and Dr. Jordan Kraemer, ADL’s Director of Policy and Research at its Center for Technology and Society, joined the show to explain the findings. • From the Frontlines: A Discussion with Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown
"From the Frontlines" is an ADL podcast. It is hosted by ADL New York/New Jersey Director Scott Richman and focuses on ADL's efforts to fight antisemitism and hate in the United States and around the world. There is no doubt that the frontline against hate on Saturday, May 14th was in Buffalo, New York at the Tops Friendly Market on Jefferson Avenue where a white supremacist went on a killing spree. It was a heinous attack against the black community which left 10 people dead and a community in mourning. A few hours later, this show's host flew to Buffalo, first and foremost to show his solidarity - and ADL’s - with the black community, but also to be a resource to law enforcement and to others. One of the first people that he met on the site of the attack was Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown. He is Scott's honored guest for this very special “From the Frontlines” show, which originally was a video interview as part of the ADL New York/New Jersey Annual Meeting on June 15, 2022.
