  • From the Middle - Caffeine, Truff, and Streaming Stuff
#176. Caffeine is just a marketing ploy that doesn’t deliver on promises of stimulation. Or at least that’s what these three non-scientists are here to say. Also, truffle and caviar are just marketing ploys to get people to spend lots of money on things that taste gross. We’re not chefs. We’re not doctors. We are PODCASTERS! Podcasters are a lot like YouTubers, only we feel weird about cameras in public. Anyway, Kory is home from England and Switzerland and he updates us about the back end of his trip which includes what may be his new favorite city! After the break we catch up on some streaming and sticker spottings (Dillon saw a funny sticker on a truck traveling an Indiana freeway…and he describes in like only he can). What are we watching? Elvis, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, The Rings of Power, Picard, Welcome to Wrexham, and Dahmer - Monster. Have any weird or interesting thoughts or questions come to mind while listening? Head over to the socials, email, or voicemail/text number to let us know! Details are in the LinKTree below. Until next time, be kind to each other!

  • From the Middle - Take the Hogwarts Train to see a LEGO Scott and Ye Olde Bois
#175. Smooth and sultry: two words to describe the timbre of what feels like our classiest hour. Dillon brings us to the mythical land of Scranton with his Dutch take on the working class via plastic sculpting. He calls it LEGO, The Office. Then he takes us on a ride around a German inspired faux pine on the Hogwarts Express. Kendall laments the rearing of children in solitude. Then after a pause, Kory reminisces on his adventures among Ye Olde historical establishments as he celebrates authentic European cuisine. Friends become victors and defeated in a race of fantasy chariots, which the local Bois of Burritos and travelers alike refer to as Mario Kart. ’Tis a smart episode. We hope you linger around to enjoy the volume to its end and then we implore you to visit the fabled LinkTree to partake in the sharing of story. Until we meet again, be benevolent to thy brethren.

  • From the Middle - French Bathrobe Dancing, British Monopoly Dining, and American Pastime Questioning
#174. An eccentric YouTuber found some fame but didn’t dress for the occasion, and therein lies a piece of the charm. Dillon and Kory saw Mark Rebillet in concert and found things “Wonderfully Weird” as Dillon put it. Kory had just found his hotel room in England before recording, so we got to interact his jet-lag as he shared his strategy to combat the disorder. Perhaps a pleasant surprise from a nearby McDonalds boosted his adrenaline, because, guys; McDonalds in England is STILL DOING MONOPOLY! What’s going on with contract negations in the states? We need to fix this. We spend the back half playing a new game. Into It or Over It is a game where Kendall presents the guys with what he perceives as declining trends to ask if we are ready to see them go, if we’re still holding on, or if Kendall’s wrong and the trend is still going strong. Examples from this week’s round include Wordle, LEGO Masters, sign art, and the bacon craze. Suggestions are always welcome! Leave your thoughts and questions via any of the avenues found in the LinkTree below. Until next time, be kind to each other.

  • From the Middle - Road Rage, “Lunch Breaks,” and Killer Lions
#173. It’s Homecoming season! This leads to some “kids these days” moments. Also, in “adults these days” we grown-ups have our own Happy Meals now! McDonalds is rolling out the limited time toy-centered deal for adults, which begs the question; what would you want in your adult Happy Meal? Perhaps a short run of LEGO figurines so Kory can work his charm on the employees to give him just the one he needs. As geeky as that sounds, it would sound worse coming from Chris D'Elia, to whom we say not all geeks have a lisp! But it IS funny. Kory also shares a road rage encounter and a separate questionable “smoke coming from a car on a dead-end street” situation. One we’re pretty sure he handled correctly, but how about the other? We also discuss music gatekeeping and creepy smiles. In media and streaming we bring up the horror flick, Smile as well as Star Trek’s Picard, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Beast. We posed some questions and we need answers! Chime in via the LinkTree below. We appreciate you all. Until next week, be kind to each other.

  • From the Middle - Taco Pizza, Tequila, and Territorial Treats
#172. You may want to grab a snack for this one. We live one of Kendall’s pizza goals courtesy of the Hubbell brothers and The Eagles Villa Pizza while washing it down with some of Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson’s Teremana Tequila. For dessert we try some Great Britain exclusive Kit Kat flavors with Mt. Dew Voo Dew 2022 edition. Between bites, we manage a smart and nostalgic conversation about news papers and books. We wonder if we’re among the few who would rather have the tactile and shareable experience of a physical book instead of using an app or reading tech. Kendall also enjoys getting a newspaper, but that’s probably just because he likes fussy things. NASA’s janitor gave the science people a crazy idea as they shot a DART at an asteroid to see what kind of damage it would do. For Answers from the Middle, we discuss the neighborly etiquette of asking for favors. And finally we share a bit of streaming and gameplay. Soccer is really hitting the spot in that category. Any questions, ideas, or stories are welcome! Use the LinkTree if you need some direction to the various methods of reaching out. Until next time, be kind to each other.

  • From the Middle - Monarchs, Bathrooms, Fashion, and Other Modern Mysteries
#171. In the wake of the recent state funeral for HM Queen Elizabeth II, we take a moment to nod to our friends in Great Britain. We also, in our admitted ignorance, discuss our fascination with the idea of a current first world monarchy and the pageantry found in its midst. Then we discuss taco juice and Walmart shirts as prompted by a middler. We follow that with an epic story of a different middler’s bathroom experience, then another potential epic of Batman vs Iron Man. Two smart guys with tech instead of traditional superpowers have a fake fight. We try to predict the winner. After the break, we dive into modern fashion and realize that we are old enough to not get it. Kendall shares how heartless he is with birthday cards, we discuss the underrated recording artist Ben Rector, and Dillon wants to make video games fun again. If you have any stories, topics, or questions, let us know! Voicemails are perfect. Joining on social is cool, too. The LinkTree below will take you to all the options. • From the Middle - Service Industry Slumlords, Stall Sneezes, and Streaming Surges
#170. We begin this episode responding to a comment from a Middler who has witnessed some shady, shall we say “slumlord-y,” behavior among fast food management. Are these experiences descriptive of an entire class or industry? We take on the heavy economic topics of our day with ease. Then we talk about sneezing in bathrooms for a while. Granted we stole the content idea from some pretty famous podcasters/comedians, but they stole from us first. If you look under the stall next to you and see some FIRE Jordans, that could be Kory. He’s becoming a seasoned vet in the sneaker release world. Finally, we catch up on some of what we are streaming including She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Star Trek: Discovery, and Top Gun: Maverick. It’s not even colon awareness month, but we’re doing our part with our streaming list. Even if we’re a little behind. LinkTree is below for interaction! Until next time, be kind to each other.

  • From the Middle - Bad Days, Lucky Days, Kid’s Days, College GameDay
#169. Kory’s been in a mood. Dillon is getting distracted from the one thing he wants. Kendall’s celebrating made up holidays. But you know what? Football is back! We needed something manly to discuss after talking about man-periods and man-nesting. Happy belated Labor Day weekend, America! We know its an “only here” thing, so to be inclusive, Happy Labour Day, Britain! Did you know you all have Kit Kat bar flavours which we don’t? Well, we have an import source and we’ll taste them soon while washing them down with The Rock’s tequila. But, for this week, we discuss our busy weekends, some other food and drink, and Dillon’s marvelous Sony PS5 discovery, purchase, and set-up. Also, KORY WAS ON SPORTS CENTER! Yeah. He and his wife made their way onto national television with some cute signs via College GameDay. Hear all about it in the next hour, then chime in via the LinkTree. Until next time, be kind to each other.

  • From the Middle - Extracurriculars, Flight Attendant Humor, and Snacks
#168. “It was the ASPHALT!” We have all watched the videos or have heard of the cute little limericks and puns that some flight attendants like to work into their routines. Like any good trio of millennials, we put our huddle together to figure out how we feel about it. But before we get to that and Dillon’s trip to Atlanta, we first have a thoughtful moment in Answers from the Middle. How involved should your young child be in extracurricular activities? Where is the line between quality family time and chaotic schedules? Also related, when should a parent encourage a kid to try new things verses sticking with one and growing? After all this heavy talk, we needed a snack…or 5 of them. We try a delicious handful of goodies provided by the Brothers Hubbell. Grab your napkins and earbuds, then join us on social or wherever! • From the Middle - Hey Snowflake, Do a Kick-flip For Some Wine
#167. We begin with a couple Answers From the Middle. Are you compelled to share that gift bottle of wine with the person who gifted it to you? Also, If you could create a place-holder for yourself to seamlessly take on your life after you die so your friends and family never know you’ve passed, should you? That last one comes from the film Swan Song which Kory recently watched and thoughts were stoked. After our AftM segment, Kendall shares his disdain for the term “half bath.” Kory began watching Snowflake Mountain via Dillon’s suggestion from last week’s episode. A funny premise stokes some meaningful moments. Kendall stumbled upon watching Veep and has been laughing ever since. His Detroit Lions are also being featured on Hard Knocks. Kory has also enjoyed Ambulance and Dogtown and Z-boys. Lots of answering the middle and streaming in this one! Follow the LinkTree after your listen and join the conversation. Until next week, be kind to each other.
