#122. It’s been over one hundred episodes ago in From the Middle history, but two often mentioned segments since then have been pet peeves and freak flags. We don’t complain a lot, but when we do, we have fun with it. From Dillon’s electronics struggles to Kory’s Taco Bell loneliness, we add to the list of what gets on our nerves. #121. Kory was able to reach into the air and pull down that guy who has been flying over his house to be a guest! JP Vitullo goes by many other names, including “the paramotor guy” and “the flying man.” He has a thrilling hobby which lends many people to notice him, but most do not get a chance to figure out exactly what paramotoring is or how one actually does it. Perhaps the most humble man in adrenaline sports, JP shares with all of us the ups and downs, risks and rewards, and the freedoms and fundamentals of, as he puts it, “running into the sky.” So grab an energy drink and double check your carabiners. #120. Dillon rejoins Kory and Kendall for another fun conversation about everything! Highlighting the halfway point of this episode, we do a taste test of Mountain Dew’s newest flavors and we decided we like to eat and drink things. If you have any ideas of weird things you want us to try, send them our way. We’d love to react to them. Surrounding that segment is some talk about Dillon’s reunion with movie theaters as he watched Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi as well as another film he watched for the first time to the surprise of many. Kory has another anxious plane flight home, and Kendall bought a blimp! With soaring enthusiasm, we hit several topics in this one. We also pay a short tribute to the late Norm Macdonald. #119. Kory and Kendall held down the conversation this week in an effort to make Dillon proud. We figure diving into some deeper than normal conversation about various forms of entertainment and media was the way to do that. We discuss the Marvel universe and how we are able to retain (or not retain) the details. Kory had a close encounter with the VMA’s, or at least geographically closer than most of us. In the vein of today’s music culture making us feel old, we try to figure out some internet shorthand. We also trade fishing stories and talk about Steve Wallis, our favorite stealth camper. #118. Parenting practices, preschool premiers, provision partaking, pipe pitches, podcast purposes, puppy procuring, prime piscaries, and shrimp chips. We steadily released a stream of “p” stories this week. From the sweet experiences of dropping little ones off at school for the first time to watching them catch their first fish, we hit all the feels; including the feeling of tummy rumbles after tasting a Taco Bell menu. We have a little talk about why we enjoy podcasting: the moments to discuss things we like without all the complaining often found in media. Then we complain about driving. #117. We were quite excited to welcome Nate Weber, contestant on the History Channel's hit survival series Alone. He generously spoke to us about some of the inside workings of the series and his experience, but it was perhaps more fascinating to hear him speak about life. Nate's thoughtful approach to the fundamentals of living and growing gives insight to parenting, reaching goals, and finding fulfillment. Military experience, a tv show, a learning homesteader, and the like have certainly contributed to who he his. However, with a chance to speak with him, you find Nate Weber is someone far deeper and wise than any one of those parts. We are grateful for the experience. Thank you, Nate!
