August 11, 2021From the Middle - Barging In, Bad Inns, and Booin'#114. The air horn guy at the swimming events during the Olympics has come clean! We talk about that and some other Olympic stuff as the games have wrapped up. We then ponder the question: how comfortable do you need to be with someone to allow yourself into their home? Do you help yourself to their fridge? We then move into some funny vacation stories including a kid catching a bird along with a bad hotel room. Kendall is feeling the Nintendo Switch itch, Kory has a very nice logo design featured in the middle of a football field, and Dillon gets nostalgic while watching the Ghostbusters: Afterlife trailer. August 04, 2021From the Middle - Ghost Kitchens Prepare for Olympic Monster Jam College Football#113. In this episode, we begin by talking about ghost kitchens. Do you know where your delivered meal came from? There's a good chance that burger joint you decided to try is actually just the burger portion of the menu from a local chain. We also dive from the ten meter platform into the Olympics. Collin from the pub is who we're rooting for. After teaching his kids how to literally body surf, Kory took his son to a Monster Truck Rally, a.k.a. the WWE of motorsports. Finally we talk about the giant off-season news impacting college football. Players getting paid? Expanded playoffs? Listen in and chime in! Details are below.Main Landing Page - https://linktr.ee/fromthemidpod...more56minPlay
July 28, 2021From the Middle - Space Jam, Loki, Bo Burnham, and Other Things to Watch#112. Join us as we catch up on the discussions of things we have recently been watching and would recommend! But first, heed Dillon's advice to get to Dairy Queen to order a Blizzard with as many extra fillings as you like. It's been a long year and you deserve it. Kendall watched Space Jam: A New Legacy, Dillon shares a morsel of his Tangent content on Loki, and Kory was into the Bo Burnham: Inside comedy special. We also talk a few spectacular YouTube food finds and more Netflix streaming. It was fun for us to catch up with each other for a typical episode of easy listening and hopefully entertaining discussion. If you like it, share it with a friend! If you found yourself talking to us out loud in your car, we didn't hear you. So please use the details below to chime in! July 21, 2021From the Middle - Don’t Hate the Music; Hate the Game with samsin#111. With over 16,000 followers on SoundCloud, samsin is an artist who paints with music. Both our iterations of intro music have been generously provided by him and we were excited to have a chance to interview him for this episode. We find out he shares some of our geek interests and can talk Star Wars with excitement. This bleeds into the bulk of our discussion surrounding the music scene in the modern day and how that world has changed. On the leading edge of where music is heading, samsin also carries a humble and pure maturity which seeks to make simply what he loves despite the temptations of commercialism and social media pressure. Truly this interview doesn't feel like we're playing the promotion game, but rather having an interesting conversation among friends. Thank you, samsin for joining us. July 14, 2021From the Middle - Paramotoring Aliens Get Curbside110. Should they tip? We begin this episode listing classic movies we’ve been told we should watch but regretfully haven’t. We also reference old movies we like to dust off at times. Kory finds a flying man from his backyard. Paramotoring is apparently a serious hobby. We won’t be trying it. Dillon talks animated Star Wars. And finally we discuss curbside pick-up which has become the new normal even as COVID restrictions expire. Is it here to stay? Do we want it to? And for the love, do we tip these people? Let us know your thoughts! Find us on social or leave a voice message we can play on a future recording. We’d love to hear from you!Main Landing Page - https://linktr.ee/fromthemidpodVOICE MAIL! Comment, ask a question, suggest topics - (614) 383-8412...more1h 4minPlay
July 07, 2021From the Middle - Independence Celebrations, BMV Lamentations, and Middler Communications109. Happy Independence Day, America! Kory and three hundred thousand of his friends spent the days surrounding the long weekend camping on the hot pavement outside of BMV locations. Otherwise, we generally had decent celebrations despite the humidity. Kendall’s beloved cooler is the only thing which didn’t make it through. This brings up an interesting discussion of things we have lost but regretfully can’t get back. We spend the last half of the episode responding to Middler questions and comments concerning previous discussions! We revisit people being directionally challenged, pet peeves, and freak flags. Those interactions were quite fun and we want more! Please find the details below through our Linktree to find where to do that. And please keep passing your favorite episodes along to anyone who might enjoy them! Thanks, friends!Main Landing Page - https://linktr.ee/fromthemidpodVOICE MAIL! June 30, 2021From the Middle - Unprofessional Health Tips, Unruly Birds, and Unspoken Rules#108. The confusing world of unspoken rules is what this episode turns into. Etiquette, trust, decency, and understanding are things that come as presumption to many of us. The problem is these values don’t always align when talking about things like sharing donuts at work, so we decided to solve that problem. Before we do, we first learn from Dillon about The Friendship Onion which is a new podcast hosted by a couple of hobbits. We also use our collectively plump life experience to give you weight loss advice. Please consult a doctor before listening to this episode. We’re likely bad for your cholesterol. Anyway, if you care to speak about unspoken rules, we would love to hear it! June 23, 2021From the Middle - Everyday Things We Just Don't Get#107. We never claimed to be smart. If we did, then it was a dumb thing to say. This episode is a topical one with things we feel are normal everyday things but we just cannot seem to understand. If you have knowledge of thermal dynamics concerning how ceiling fans can be efficient or if you can order a fancy drink from Starbucks with the proper cadence, then you have one up on us. The most fun thing about a topical episode is hearing from YOU! Please join the conversation on social or call us and leave a message. We would love to revisit this topic with your input. June 16, 2021From the Middle - Streaming and Cinema, Struggling Establishments, and Sassy Cicadas#106. Our collective streaming has seen an uptick since our last potpourri episode. This especially applies to Dillon as he shares and recommends some of what he's been into. Kory has finally partaken in film the old fashioned way: in a theater! He talks about that experience. We then solve the debate of fanservice vs interpretation vs writer intent as Kory shares his love for behind the scenes content from film makers. Kendall found a binge-worthy criminal psychology channel on YouTube. Then we talk about all kinds of things from bird adoption, to cicada experiences, and yes...pizza. If anything you hear on this or other episodes makes you think of a friend, please do us a favor and share with them! June 09, 2021From the Middle - Pod Mashup with Super Media Bros#105. The language is unconfined in this episode. We don't mind it, but ye might. We won't judge you if you don't judge us. Now onto this week's episode! Midnight Agent RAW and Okami, combined they become Super Media Bros! Traversing through films, television, pop culture, and gaming, they bravely took a dive into the middle to report their adventures. We asked them about the podcast world and the cult films they encounter on a biweekly basis. We also learn of possibly their largest nemeses, Derek Savage. Together, the duo sat alongside us for a chat about all of the above.
