  • Micro-dosing: A Natural Practice for Healing, Exploration & Discovery” with Kayse Gehret
    Meet Kayse Gehret…
Kayse Gehret is the founder of Micro-dosing for Healing, a nationwide virtual program combining micro-dosing education, experience and supportive community. In their group programs they offer a unique, intimate community of individuals drawn to practice with diverse intentions... including physical healing, mental wellness, emotional balance and spiritual connection. The intention of the program is to introduce individuals to the beautiful practice of micro-dosing, inspire a lifelong connection to nature, instill a reverence & respect for sacred plant medicine and create the conditions for healing in a fun, welcoming and supportive container.
Kayse has been in the healing arts for more than two decades, with a successful healing arts practice and studios in Northern California.  Her passion is inviting individuals to rediscover their own natural, innate healing and building community around healing, discovery and possibility.
The topic of our podcast today is Micro-dosing with plant medicine and the incredible work that is being done at Johns Hopkins and in numerous cities around the country that have decriminalized and even legalized mushrooms as medicine.
Kayse, as you just heard, is doing some amazing work to empower her clients in the knowledge of plant medicine in combination with healthy living practices.
Kayse shares with us her background in the healing arts and how she grew her spa in Northern California, Soulstice Spa to include 4 locations. The work she did with celebrities and well known folks around the world is legendary, yet during the pandemic she had to shift and grow in a new direction and she hasn’t looked back since.
The transformation that is possible with these plant medicines is pretty amazing and I feel it needs to be shared to the greater masses.  I love when she states about mental health and plant medicine “ you don’t cure these emotions you shift your relationship with anxiety or depression.  You don’t numb your feelings you feel them but not as intensely.”
The world of plant medicine, medicinal mushrooms and functional mushrooms as you will learn is opening up so many possibilities for healing from so many diverse perspectives.
We talk about the work currently going on at Johns Hopkins with Dr. Roland Griffiths at the Center for Psychedelics and Consciousness Research, the personal reports of healing and clarity that so many of her clients have experienced.
We also spend some time talking about the healing properties of what are called functional mushrooms that you can easily find, grow and use in your daily life, things like Reishi, Lions Mane, Turkey Tail…and many others.  The show notes are full of links to explore some of these ideas and places to source these mushrooms and learn more about the benefits.
Stick with me here and maybe this will open your eyes and mind to a world of healing that is within reach for you or someone you know.

  • Sober Curious...Blissful Sleep, Greater Focus, Deeper Connection
On today’s podcast episode we dive into the Sober Curious movement. In 2018 Ruby Warrington coined this phrase and wrote a book with the same name.
Her one persistent question when she first became Sober Curious was… “would life be better without alcohol?”
Since her book and the conversation ensued thousands if not millions have asked the same question of themselves. Many have found the answer to be an unequivocal “yes”.
This podcast may just open your eyes to a few surprising thoughts around alcohol, tips on how to go about trying this out, how to talk to your family and friends and alternatives to alcohol that can be surprisingly tasty.
If you have ever been curious about what life would be like not taking that glass of wine or fancy cocktail but maybe a mocktail instead…have a listen.

  • How stress may be working for you...and against you.
Welcome to the 12th episode of the Full Capacity Living Podcast. This podcast is a slight departure from our usual format of guest conversations. I decided to take the time to share my journey into health coaching and just a bit about my background. I also talk a bit about Functional Medicine itself and what it is and isn’t. Then we dive into looking at stress from a deeper level.
There are many ways to deal with shifting your response to stress but the underlying relationship with stress is really a key factor to uncover well before diving into any practices. Once you can uncover what relationship you have had with stress in the past and how it may have benefited you then it becomes a bit more clear as to the path you need to navigate to change that response.
So get ready for a solo conversation that hopefully provides you with some tools to uncover your relationship with stress over your lifetime and how to start shifting that response to achieve the optimal health and wellbeing you are seeking.
As always thank you for listening!

  • Pelvic Health: Solutions to make every day better with Susan Clinton, DScPT
Today I am joined by Susan Clinton, doctorate in PT who some might call the guru of pelvic floor physical therapy! She is an award winning PT and co-owner of Embody Physiotherapy and Wellness, on faculty at Andrews University in the Doctor of Science in PT program, the host of the podcast Tough to treat and so much more. Check the show notes for her full bio.
She happens to be a long time friend yet the offering of this conversation really had me thinking of all the clients I have that experience urinary frequency, incontinence or constipation./bowel issues.
I know. I know…no one likes to actually talk about these things but it’s time that it’s more out in the open folks because more women (and men frankly) have these issues and no one knows what quote unquote “normal” is or what to do about it when you discover it’s not normal, the connection between breath, gut health, stress and triggering into the “fight or flight” autonomic nervous system, over-hydration, how we create a cranky bladder…
Our body’s ability to detox naturally happens through bowel, bladder and sweat. If you get those things regulated and shift some lifestyle things around in the meantime you support natural detox daily. So key to overall health.
Today we talk about what’s normal and what’s not, what contributes to these issues of bowel and bladder and GI and what to do about it.
The need for this information and what we uncover in the conversation is so needed so I am glad you are here with us to learn.

  • Plant Based Eating with the one and only Jane Esselstyn !!
Jane is a fresh and charismatic voice on the plant-based, whole food diet. She brings her perspective and passion as a woman, nurse and mother to creating on-ramps to the plant-based way of life. Jane is an avid and inventive designer of plant-based recipes and the co-author of The Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease Cookbook (Avery, 2014) with her next-door neighbor and mom, Ann. And she created the recipe section of Plant-Strong, and The Engine 2 Seven Day Rescue by her brother, Rip Esselstyn. Jane presents her work, research, and recipes across the country. Her presentations, food demonstrations, samples and food parties bring clarity of understanding and a can-do attitude to the power of plant-based eating. The Journal of Pediatrics recently published the study she worked on with the Cleveland Clinic observing the effect of a plant-based diet on pediatric obesity and hypercholesterolemia. Jane met her husband and fellow educator, Brian Hart, while working as a field instructor for Outward Bound. They have three plant-based children. Jane graduated from the University of Michigan, where she competed nationally as a recruited swimmer and rower, and earned a B.S. in Nursing from Kent State University.
Today we talk about her journey into plant based eating, her family and their involvement, we will dig into one of the studies she was part of based on childhood obesity and whole food plant based eating and the remarkable results , we talk about how to get started and simple ways to eat more plants and also a sneak peak into the new cookbook she and her mother just completed coming out in late 2021. If you think plant based eating is boring just check out her YouTube channel and that belief will go right out the window.
This was a really fun conversation, Jane’s energy is contagious and fueled by plants so take a listen and I will see you on the other side.
