We're back with another live episode!

This week is the first of two recordings from our live show that took place April 2, 2015 at The Elbo Room in Chicago.

Starting the show off is Eric Barry and co-host comedian Mary Zee. We talk about Mary's recent crowing as Chicago's 2015 Air Sex Champion, Easter celebrations, and other things I can't remember.

After that we roll right through with performances from comedian Tyler Snodgrass, storyteller Angela Vela, and comedian Tyson Karrasch.

On this week's show we have comedian, member of The State, and host of the popular RISK! podcast Kevin Allison!

Kevin has made a name for himself in the podcasting community for his sexual exploits and his candor about them, so naturally it's a perfect fit between he and Eric, and we cover a lot of ground.

We start off by talking about sex addiction as a false — or certainly misrepresented addiction as put forth by Oprah, Dr. Drew, and the like. That takes us into a discission about the dating in the landscape of evolving digital media, and the precision with which we can both meet and miss out on partners.

Kevin then talks about what it was like growing in Ohio with liberal parents who still imposed a lot of sexual shame on him. From his earliest memories Kevin knew he was gay, and his strong sexuality manifested itself in many ways. We talk about how many adults attempt to deny children their sexuality, and the ultimate shame around the issue that causes.

Next we talk about how The State came to be, and what it meant to be a young 20-something with a popular show on MTV in the 90's.

We continue with Kevin talking about his journey to identifying as kinky, his relationship to drugs and alcohol, and his latest altered-state kink: hypnosis.

Finally we round things out by talking about the struggle between privacy and disclosure when it comes to our podcasts, and just how RISK! came to be.

Plus in the beginning of the show Eric talks about the amazing time he had at Dan Savage's Hump! festival, and his own struggle with privacy after his recent breakup.

Holy Moly! It's our 3-Year-Anniversary! To celebrate, Eric decided to put together a collection of some of the favorite moments from the podcast over the last three years. Unfortunately, he only had time to do the first 40 episodes. FORTUNATELY, that means more Best Of's to come!

Blowjobs. Hate 'em or love 'em? That's the debate after Alison Stevenson's article for Vice in which she declares that she's never giving a blowjob again. The article received a fair amount of backlash, particularly because Alison also demands that her partners eat her out. What's a girl to do?

This week Great Lakes Den editor and native hoosier Tom Wray returns to the show to discuss Indiana's controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act, recently signed into law by Governor Mike Pence.

We start things off by discuss what the bill says, and how its language is particularly dangerous to Indiana's LGBT population. Governor Pence has received a tremendous amount of backlash from signing the law, including statements from Apple CEO Tim Cook, Hillary Clinton, the NCAA, and companies like Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff announcing they're limiting business operations in Indiana.

Later Tom addresses the argument that this is a matter of religious freedom. This week author and sex educator Allison Moon is back to talk about her new book Girl Sex 101! Also back in the bedroom is Air Sex Champion Kate Anderson!

Allison starts things of by talking about the unique format of her book, which combines practical advice on knowing and pleasing women's bodies with narrative graphic novel-esque depictions of those techniques in action. This leads us to talk about the many differences women have when it comes to experiencing pleasure, as well as Kate and Allison's account of their first time with another woman.

We go on to cover a range of topics, including the tribalism that often springs from marginalized communities, the relationship of erotica to pornography, and risk assessment of the pullout method. And of course somehow the crazed naked BART acrobat makes his way into the conversation.

Monogamish director Tao Ruspoli has a problem with monogamy. After undergoing a painful divorce with ex-wife Olivia Wilde, Tao set out on a journey of self-discovery and to explore why modern society wants to sell the narrative of monogamy so badly, despite failing us time and again.

This week, Tao talks to Eric about that journey, his non-traditional upbringing as an Italian prince in a bohemian counter-culture family, and the conversations he hopes Monogamish will spark for its viewers.
