Today is lucky number 13! I can barely believe I'm at 13 episodes, let's fuggin' go! FMR is growing each day!
My guest is a REAL PODCASTER, ya'll. And, he took time out of his evening from hosting both "The Patdown with Ms. Pat" and "The Chris Spangle Show" to appear on FMR. Because of BHM, we decided on 1974's "Blazing Saddles", starring Gene Wilder and Cleavon Little, and written by the late, great comedian Richard Pryor and directed by master of comedy, Mel Brooks.
This is a VERY divisive, satirical take on racism and is full of terms completely inappropriate and harmful toward many groups, specifically the Black community. However, the fact this film is nearing 50 years old and themes of government manipulation, racial tension, but also collaboration and conversations that needed to be had in order to make this film. Mel Brooks is still living, and hopefully you'll join us!

Today's episode is covering "Wonder Woman 1984", the sequel to 2017's "Wonder Woman" both starring Gal Gadot. In the wake of the pandemic, seems that Hollywood tried desperately to recoup the expensive projects slated to be released, and WW1984 is no exception. Returning Chris Pine, and adding awesome actors like Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig, the sequel is a spectacle to embrace.
My guest is Shoua, nail artist, and currently, stay-at-home mom of three, who joins me after I literally pitched this show to her as she was doing my nails circa 5 years ago. We literally SPOKE this show into existence and I'm so glad to finally share the space with her.

Episode eleven we kick it super old school! 1971. Germany but not Germany. A poor, blue-eyed child wins a golden ticket to a factory full of wonder and enjoyment. Its a WILD ASS MOVIE but so iconic. Yes, the snoozberries taste like snoozberries tonight, ya'll.
Miles and I, both under 30, enjoyed this movie as kids even though it was more our parents' era. The effects are dated, but the songs and the wonderful performance by the late Gene Wilder breathes fresh air 50 full years later. Please enjoy, 'Willy Wonka'.

In the double digits! 2004's "Mean Girls", as much as we don't want to admit it, sparked a cultural revolution and so many conversations about what high school life was. This film, a comedic, hyperbolic masterpiece adapted from "Queen Bees and Wannabes" by Rosalind Wiseman, Tina Fey created many quotable and iconic scenes in a 60 minute romp. It's pink, it's fab, and it's so "fetch". 16 years later, I still on October 3rd, find myself thinking of Cady and the crew.
Join myself @fullmetalratchet and my bestie Fedi @theperceptivescorpio for "Mean Girls", starring Lindsay Lohan and Tina Fey!

trigger warning: this film depicts suicide, domestic abuse, substance abuse
Happy Black History Month! To commemorate BHM 2021, I asked my favorite coworker Ms. Lisa to join me for her all-time favorite film, "Purple Rain", starring Prince and Morris Day. Prince's legacy is part of the fabric of black American history, as his music broke color lines at a time where people did not see a black, male, experimental rocker with an unforgettable stage presence. "Purple Rain" started it all for funk legends such as Morris Day, Wendy and Lisa, and more.

2021 is the gift that keeps on giving, ain't it? In the world today, tales of hedge funds, Wall Street, and the stock market dominate the news again, confusing us plebes once more and inciting that jealous rage we have against big banks. Well, this episode we dive DEEP into the basics of the stock market and the complex ideas and schemes that went into the devastating 2008 economic crash. 2015's "The Big Short" is the perfect film to enter into the crazy mindset of high stakes trading and luckily, we dedicate 2 hours to explaining, analyzing, and critiquing everything it took to put this excellent film together.

DOUBLE OH SEVEN EPISODE. The lucky episode #7 featuring my favorite guest, Miles Lark (@mileslarkartglass) deals with a pivotal period film, 1985's "The Color Purple".
This lesser-known Spielberg classic stars then-unknown LEGENDS Whoopi Goldberg & Oprah Winfrey as they adapt author Alice Walker's magnum opus into harrowing performances you'll never forget. Accompanied by a soundtrack composed by Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson's lyricist, Rod Temperton (the guy literally wrote 'THRILLER'), "The Color Purple" is a celebration of the human experience that is marred by brutality and tragedy, but ends up being triumphant and glorious. A true tear-jerker, please join us as we cover this beautiful cinematic gem.

2021 started off ROUGH but luckily, we cover a very funny film “Little Nicky” today. In the shadow of historic civil strife, join @itskiapapaya and I as we laugh thru the discomfort and uncertainty of the US election certification and ensuing violence. It’s a great conversation as we get to know musician and internet comedian Kia Papaya on this episode of Full Metal Ratchet: pirate radio edition!
