We recently came across the 2020 McKinsey & Company’s The State Of The Black Women In Corporate America report. The State of Black Women in Corporate America draws heavily on Lean In and McKinsey & Company’s annual Women in the Workplace study. Since 2015, more than 590 companies employing more than 22 million people, along with a quarter of a million individual employees, have participated in Women in the Workplace. Today we will review the key points from the report. Interestingly enough, we have discussed most of these factors on the Full-Time Black Woman podcast before.

Have you ever gone through life on autopilot for a period of time? Day in and day out the same thing...responsibility and duty only. You get sucked into fulfilling your roles and lose sight of what lights you up inside. When we first watched the I Am Hippolyta episode of Lovecraft country both of us were like, “we need to talk about this”. If you have ever felt like you shrunk your greatness or that you limited your possibilities for the sake of your role, just know you are not alone. Today we’re talking about the question I Am and reclaiming you.

Happy New Year! Throughout 2021 we’ve provided you all with our Stats For Dat Ass enlightenment segment to provide the facts to every topic we’ve covered. Full-Time Black Woman podcast was designed to create an environment where black professional women can discuss the ups and downs we experience in corporate america and entrepreneurship, while balancing our many roles and responsibilities in life. Unfortunately, most of our universal experiences as black women are based on negativity and unfairness. Today, we are going to revisit some of our most memorable Stats For Dat Ass facts and discuss the reasons why we are no longer allowing these same issues to control us this year.

Today’s episode is sort of a call back to our very first episode Toxic Aunties. There comes a time in some black women’s career history where their skepticism of corporate america outweighs their optimism. The veil of “I can outwork the system” is removed and reality sets in that the C-Suite often remains an undercooked mayo sausage party. For those that aren’t familiar we define Toxic Aunties as mature, seasoned black women co-workers who are most professional around their white counterparts but can be professionally immature, negative or territorial when dealing with younger or newer black women. As seasoned workers ourselves, today we want to do a little self reflection and offer tips on how to avoid becoming a Toxic Auntie.

Ever since Devyn created his first website during the dial-up days, he has always been obsessed with marketing. Reverse engineering the marketing strategies of multi-billion dollar companies has been his hobby for a number of years. Devyn’s favorite thing to do is watch the rise and fall of trends. For example, remember when every company would send you a CD in the mail, with AOL leading the way?
Now, Devyn makes comprehensive marketing solutions for customers in a plethora of verticals. He can create and grow every aspect of a brand's marketing funnel from the first touch to sale, and beyond. He’s a Hubspot Pro and is also a pretty decent multimedia producer with work featured on television, billboards, radio, and signage.
Today we are going to discuss the power of LinkedIn with Devyn.
