"Malachi: What has Changed?"
Malachi 4:1-6
Join us as we conclude our summer sermon series journey through the 12 Minor Prophets titled "Into the Heart of God." This week, we consider the final prophet (and book) of the Old Testament, Malachi, who prophesies about 100 years after the people return to Jerusalem. What we discover is not much has changed for the better, even after centuries of prophetic warning and severe consequences. What is it going to take to change the trajectory in the people of God's story? Malachi offers some hints, but the people will have to wait - approximately 400 years after these words were penned.

"Zechariah: Messianic Hope"
Zechariah 9:9-10
Join us as we near the end of our summer sermon series journey through the 12 Minor Prophets titled "Into the Heart of God." This week, we consider the prophet Zechariah, who prophesies as a contemporary of Haggai to the returning exiles in 520 BC. Where Haggai was incredibly focused on the temple rebuild, Zechariah can feel a bit scattered in his prophetic words. Primary to Zechariah's message is a word of hope anchored in the promise of a Messiah who would be the answer to the people's struggles during this time in history. Spoiler alert - the answer remains the same for us today.

"Take a Look Around"
Haggai 1:1-11
What do you do when life is not quite working out? You are second choice on the new job. You studied hard, but misunderstood a surprise question on the test that that you need a good grade and ended up with a bad grade? You're working, but it's not "paying off." Haggai tells the citizens of Jerusalem, and us as well, to breathe deep, look to the LORD and "give careful thought to your ways." We need discernment for life, not just more effort and better plans.
