Jesus is the TRUE VINE and WE are the branches. In communion with Jesus we are to be those vessels through whom the fruits of the Holy Spirit come forth. We are to bloom in the soil of our everyday lives. It in our daily lives that we grow in union with the Lord. May is the month the Church dedicates to the Blessed Mother in communion with Saint Joseph and the Child Jesus. This dedication is an offering to the GLORY OF GOD! For God has done, and CONTINUES TO DO, great things through Mary and the Holy Family for us and through us. Each day in May let us meditate on some aspect of the Holy Family and offer our prayers to God for the gifts of our earthly family and relatives.

Chapter 14 of John's Gospel is the Last Discourse of Jesus to the Disciples, and EACH OF US! Jesus tells us to NOT let our hearts be troubled! Why? How? Jesus goes to prepare a place for US! What is this place? How do we get there? What does Jesus mean that He is the WAY and the TRUTH and the LIFE? What does all this mean for US? Fasting is an ancient SPIRITUAL discipline in the Bible and in the Christian Tradition. Fasting and prayer are aids for helping us focus our relationship with God. Fasting with PRUDENCE provides a a clarity of thought and action. Through fasting we deny and / or limit the desires of the body in order to focus attention to the needs of the soul. Fasting prepares us for the indwelling Holy Spirit.

What is the Church? It is a MYSTERY! From its humble beginnings to the present, the Church is the MYSTERY of God's presence in the world. Through the Holy Spirit the Gospel is preached and LIVED through the Scripture and Sacraments and the Witness of countless disciples of Jesus. WE are to be witnesses each day in the MISSION FIELDS of our daily lives. In the Holy Spirit we are to live the message of Easter -- JESUS IS LORD!

Being lost can fill us with fear and panic. We can be lost geograhically. We can be lost SPIRITUALLY! Sin or circumstance can gives us afeeling of homelessness and seperation. However, THE GOOD NEWS is WE HAVE BEEN FOUND! Jesus the Good Shepherd died and ROSE so that we may be FOUND and COME BACK TO LIFE! Each day the Good Shepherd calls us BY NAME to follow Him. May we LISTEN WITH OUR WHOLE BEING to the invitation to be FOUND and truely LIVE!
