We are by nature social beings. We are created to be with and FOR others. In our Gospel reading, Matthew 25: 31- 46, Jesus ask us: with whom do YOU associate, identify, with whom do YOU FIND ME? This is not an idle question. For the response will determine our final place in eternity.

The First Sunday in Lent recounts the three temptations of Jesus by Satan as Jesus is about to begin his PUBLIC MINISTRY. What is the meaning of these temptations? How are they OUR DAILY temptations? What does Jesus teach us as to how to REJECT the temptAtions that come to us?

The call of Levi/ Matthew is the call by Jesus to EACH OF US. Jesus, the Divine Physician, came to heal the sin sick soul. The medicine of DIVINE MERCY is offered is that which heals. Lent is the season of MERCY and HEALING and NEWNESS OF LIFE. Jesus says to us, "FOLLOW ME". How will YOU respond?

The Lord calls us to keep secrets. This is important as we begin the Holy Season of Lent. What kind of secrets are we to keep private? Why?

Today we find ourselves in a SPIRITUAL BATTLE witb the Evil One. The struggle is intense within the Church, the world, and within ourselves. St. Paul in his letter to the Ephesians, and to US, describes this battle and HOW WE ARE TO RESIST SATAN and emerge VICTORIOUS. This passage from St Paul deserves our prayerful meditatiln.
