As such, warring against spirits is fundamentally a warfare against thought, for words are carriers of thought and thoughts shape the inward life of man.

Our Pastor explained that the real conflict in the believer’s journey is the war between light and darkness. Darkness is overcome not merely by confession, but by work, specifically, the work of obedience to the Lord. In this way, we learned how a believer fights darkness by yielding to the work of the word within.

Furthermore, it was taught that the word of God is given for the salvation of the soul, and that the purpose of receiving the engrafted word is not mere information, but inward transformation. As the word is obeyed, its writings become inscribed upon the heart, forming divine works within the inward man.

Ultimately, we were reminded that becoming workers of God’s will is a process of inward formation whereby the believer receives thoughts through the word, allows those thoughts to take root within, and walks them out in obedience. In this way, the soul is progressively saved, darkness is overcome, and the believer is conformed to the will of God.
