The Houston Texans are now 0-4 after today's 34-30 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Wow. Two questions:

The Texans are 0-2, but apparently the biggest thing missing in Houston is…joy?

After DeMeco Ryans, C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson spent Wednesday talking over and over again about finding the “joy” in football, I’ve got questions. Why does a team just two games into the season already sound this miserable? And what does it say about the Texans heading into what should be a very winnable game against the Colts?

Plus, my NFL Week 3 picks against the spread, the Astros somehow STILL aren’t dead, and a few things from Rockets Media Day that have me wondering whether Houston has actually closed the gap in the Western Conference.

For the third time in four years, the Houston Texans are 0-2 to open the year under DeMeco Ryans. They're now 1-5 their past two Septembers, and 5-8 since kicking off this new era in 2023.

C.J. Stroud and the Texans offense were STUFFED by a suddenly swarming Cincy defense, while Houston was again unable to force the takeaways we've grown accustomed to under DeMeco Ryans.
