  • Teams from all over Ireland to attend All-Ireland Mixed Ability Festival - A Galway Bay FM Sports Special Podcast
    Mixed Ability Rugby teams from all over Ireland will be in Athlone on Saturday next for the first-ever All-Ireland Mixed Ability Rugby festival that will be hosted by Buccaneers RFC and Connacht Rugby.
    Mixed Ability and Inclusion Rugby is played all over the country with the Raptors in Corinthians a major success story since its formation.
    Mixed Ability Rugby follows all the traditional rules and the game, with only minor variations to support mass participation.
    To celebrate this historic event, Galway Bay FM Sport has put together a special podcast in which we speak to those who will be involved on Saturday afternoon.

  • SOCCER: Galway United v Wexford Preview - The Manager’s Thoughts
    Galway United are back on the road tomorrow evening when they travel down to Ferrycarrig Park to take on Wexford. (Kick off - 7.45pm)
    United are eleven points clear at the top of the table and with second placed Waterford expected to win at home to Bray Wanderers, every game is now taking on added importance ahead of the summer break.

    After their Connacht Final defeat to Mayo, Galway's minor footballers attempt to get back on track this Saturday (10th June) when they take on Ulster champions Derry.
    It's a repeat of last year's semi-final when the Tribesmen prevailed by 2-9 to 1-11 and both teams boast survivors from that contest.

  • SOCCER: Galway United manager Phil Trill with Galway Bay FM’s Darren Kelly ahead of Women’s Premier Division trip to Sligo Rovers
    Galway United will target finishing on a positive note this Saturday (10th June) when they travel to Sligo Rovers in the SSE Airtricity League Women's Premier Division.
    After three consecutive losses, this is the last league outing for two months as the competition breaks for the All-Ireland Cup and the Women's World Cup.
    Sligo Rovers are second from bottom but did trouble Galway United, currently fifth, when the sides met in April - Kate Thompson and Jenna Slattery getting early goals in a 2-1 win.

    Galway United will try to break the 50-point mark on Friday (9th June) when they travel to Wexford FC in the SSE Airtricity League First Division.
    It's the third meeting between the teams this year, with the Tribesmen already enjoying 4-0 and 2-0 victories over the Slaneysiders.
    This week has already seen the FAI Cup first-round draw take place and Galway United goalkeeper Brendan Clarke was in attendance.
    Afterwards, he chatted to Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly about the FAI Cup draw, life in Galway, what the club needs to do to keep driving on, and some friendly banter about cross-channel soccer.

  • HURLING: Galway manager Henry Shefflin with Galway Bay FM’s Niall Canavan before the Leinster senior final against Kilkenny in Croke Park
    Croke Park will screen the Munster Senior Hurling Final LIVE this Sunday, before Galway take on Kilkenny in the Leinster decider.
    The gates on Jones Road will be opened from 1.15pm to allow patrons watch the 1.45pm throw-in at the Gaelic Grounds.  Galway and Kilkenny begin from 4pm.

  • SOCCER: Galway United assistant manager Ollie Horgan with Galway Bay FM’s Mike Rafferty after their 6-0 victory over Finn Harps
    Galway United got back to winning ways on Monday (5th June) with their 16th victory from 18 games in the 2023 SSE Airtricity League First Division.
    The Tribesmen were only 2-1 victors against Finn Harps on the opening day of the season but were four goals up here after just 19 minutes thanks to Darren Clarke, Killian Brouder, Stephen Walsh and Maurice Nugent.
    Rob Manley made it 5-0 on 53 minutes, before David Hurley slotted home a penalty two minutes from time, bringing Galway United to 49 points, still 10 clear of Waterford.
    Galway United assistant manager Ollie Horgan spoke to Galway Bay FM's Mike Rafferty after the final whistle.
