  • RUGBY: Connacht Juniors Name Team To Face Leinster
    The Connacht Junior Team has been named to take on Leinster in the Interprovincials in Portlaoise on Saturday.
    There are four changes to the team who were beaten by Munster. Creggs’ Shane Purcell starts at out-half having missed last weekend’s defeat to Munster, Castlebar’s Barry Walsh starts at outside centre with Eoghan Coyle of Creggs moving to inside centre. Tuam’s Ian Murphy drops to the bench. With Alan Finnerty injured, Connemara’s Tommy Mullin starts at wing forward and Dunmore’s Jaime Gerathy comes into the squad.

  • SOCCER: Galway United v Waterford Preview
    Another large crowd is expected to be at Eamon Deacy Park in what could be a crucial game at the top of the First Division. Following their defeats last Monday, Galway United lie seven points ahead of second placed Waterford coming into tomorrow night’s game and the call has gone out for as many supporters to get to the game as possible.

  • LGFA: Connacht Ladies Senior Football Final Preview
    The Galway Ladies team will be named this evening ahead of their Connacht Final with Mayo in McHale Park.  
    Galway are the defending champions following their 1-12 to 1-8 win over Mayo last year and go into Sunday’s game on the back of reaching the National Football League Final against Kerry.

  • HOCKEY: The University of Galway preparing for TWO Irish Hockey Cup Finals on Sunday
    THIS Sunday will be a very big day for the University of Galway with two of their teams involved in Irish Hockey Cup Finals.
    At 11.45, their second team faces Portrane in the Irish Hockey Challenge Cup Final looking to repeat the success of 2018 when they beat Blackrock 4-1.
    Then at 3.45, their first team takes on Omagh in the Irish Hockey trophy final the team looks to emulate the wins of Greenfields who won the Trophy in 2012 and 2013.
    Damien Kelly is the head coach of the University of Galway.
