A late starter with no training and no flexibility, being the underdog was a recurring theme in Nigel’s journey into the performing arts. But, against all doubts, the boy from The Bronx would continue to show them all what he was capable of, being accepted into not one but TWO performing arts programs at LaGuardia Arts High School, then matriculating into the dance program at The Julliard School, and later dancing for international dance companies Saarlandischens Staatstheater (Berlin), Luna Negra Dance Theater (Chicago) and Gothenburg Opera Dance Company (Sweden). Upon moving back to New York, he became a company member of Gibney Dance Company where he now sits as one of the company Directors, and is paying it all forward to the next generation through his organization MOVE|NYC which provides artistic training, mentorship, professional development and other career advancing opportunities and tools to historically marginalized and underrepresented young artists.

When Tony G arrived to LA he was met with a barrage of “No”s. Instead of letting them deter or stop him, he stayed true to himself and kept it moving with persistence, placing himself in the rooms he needed to be in and in front of the people needed to be seen. Honing in on his unique skill set in seeing what other don’t (in both people and patterns), Tony became a sought after Choreographer, Creative Director and Casting Director for numerous projects – TV shows, films, commercials, movies including the blockbuster cheerleading franchise Bring It On, artists like The Black Eyed Peas and various NBA, NFL and NCAA cheer and dance squads – and remains that same passionate, sought after, true to himself person today.

With his crew SOUL CONTROL, he became a pioneering B-boy (breakdancer) innovating some of the most well-known and utilized power moves integral in breakdance today,. He later created two companies (ILL-Abilities and Lux Aeterna) and became a circus artist consulting for the world-famous Cirque du Soleil – all after finding dance by chance one lucky day.
