After I published my full review I kept playing Banishers. To my surprise and delight I found more to love about this game then I initially thought and there was something about most of the published reviews that I had seen(IGN, Gamespot, etc.) that needed to be talked about. So let’s do that.

I had Avin from The Grief of Politics back on to discuss another round of gaming layoffs. In the end it is very depressing to read these stories week-in, week-out, but that doesn’t take away from the great games that I’ve played and truly I want to thank all the developers out there for their hard work.

This is just a look at things I have been playing to chill out between big reviews. I also played a bit of the Contra demo, (Yes, it has a demo) with my wife. It really took me back to yesteryear. Also, I never thought I’d say this but I can’t believe I’m actually liking a JRPG. And FF 7 at that. Let’s talk about all of it.

’m really happy with how the whole package of this game came together, from the writing to the voice acting and of course with its message of grief and how different people deal with it. Depending on the personal attachment that people have to religion or culture, or maybe where they are in the world everyone deals with death differently. The team at Don’t Nod really outdid themselves this time. We’ll talk about it.

When this game was announced, I kept an eye on it. Now that I am playing it I’m happy to say, at least in the early hours, that this game is great, and the stories of grief and ghosts that Don’t Nod have developed here is something that is truly shaping up to be something special. Enjoy.

This week I talk about a demo I played as part of Steam Next Fest. This game is very important to the developer, Abubakar Salim, who introduced it at the Game Awards on December 7th, 2023. He specifically talks about trying to get over the death of his father and shows off the game. I played the demo and give my impressions.

Microsoft recently announced that they are laying off 1900 employees. Avin from The Grief of Politics and I talk about the cost of layoffs, and what this will mean for Microsoft in the feature. I always joke with Avin that whenever I have him on Gaming with Grief it’s not a fun topic, and well this episode is no exception.
