A new recruitment campaign is underway that will aim to boost numbers in the Clare Garda Division and nationwide.
There are now 48 fewer Gardaí serving in this county than there were 15 years ago.
The recruitment process is open until February 27th for any interested candidates aged 18 to 49 and open days will be held at stations across the county in the coming weeks.
20 years ago, Dominic Regan walked through the doors of the Garda Training College in Templemore for the first time.
Since then he's risen up the ranks to serve in Clare's divisional drug unit, Clare's Crime Investigation Unit and is now the county's community policing sergeant.
Speaking to Clare FM's Daragh Dolan at Ennis Garda Station, Sergeant Regan outlined why joining An Garda Siochána is worthwhile.
