Garden Bite with Teri Knight

2022 has been quite the year so far for climate conditions for those of us in the Upper Midwest and elsewhere throughout the United States. While my area has seen a 90 degree day, we've also had an overnight below 38 degrees! And the wind, holy cow! So, how are we doing for June and WHAT can we do in our Vegetable gardens? That's on today's Garden Bite!

Sometimes our plants flop over. Perennials like blackeyed susans, asters and hollyhocks could use some support from time to time. Especially in windy conditions, which seems we've had a lot more of that recently. Those annual gladiolas could use support too sometimes! These may seem "old-fashioned" but gooseberry and currant shrubs are tart berries worth a look at! Strawberries and raspberries get the buzz but the tartness and easy growing of these cold climate shrubs are something to consider.
