A doctor who treats a person afflicted with leprosy using macabre methods is an unstable physician. Although Rimel admitted that he wrote the story himself and Lovecraft only made stylistic corrections, the work is characterized by the very distinct style of the latter. Even though the writer from Providence congratulated his junior colleague on the text and claimed to have made only minor corrections, it could have been a typical courtesy on his part. A supporter of the hypothesis of Lovecraft's authorship is that Rimel did not create anything else in a similar style.

The friends of Mr. Sherlock Holmes will be glad to learn that he is still alive and well, though somewhat crippled by occasional attacks of rheumatism. He has, for many years, lived in a small farm upon the Downs five miles from Eastbourne, where his time is divided between philosophy and agriculture. Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson are investigating a mysterious murder. John Douglas, a wealthy man with a mysterious and unknown past, is the victim. Suspicions of committing the murder fall on, among others, a friend of the house, the victim's spouse, a mysterious avenger... The details of Douglas's death are revealed in the second part of this intriguing novel. Its plot takes us from England to the United States, to the titular Valley of Fear, a place of dreadful crimes committed by members of a Masonic association inspired by the genius of evil, Professor Moriarty.

The tale of global climate change resulting from the Sun approaching Earth. Humanity is on the brink of extinction, and the main character embarks on a journey to a place where, according to legends, people live in better conditions. All presented in an ironic manner, typical of Lovecraft, who holds humanity in contempt.

Although the work is authored by Barlow, Lovecraft introduced numerous stylistic changes and also wrote the majority of the final chapter.

The title is derived from a poem by Robert Burns titled "A Red, Red Rose."

The passage describes a fictional duel that took place on New Year's Eve in the year 2000 between Two-Gun Bob and Wild Wolf of West Shokan. Full of absurd events and bizarre descriptions, the piece introduces around thirty colorful characters, each of whom is a reflection of someone from H.P. Lovecraft's environment, under meaningful pseudonyms.

The showdown, which crowned the Lovecraft century, was co-written by Lovecraft and Barlow during Lovecraft's stay in Florida. It was intended as a literary joke distributed anonymously among individuals featured in the work and beyond. To prevent the authors' identities from being uncovered, they sent 50 copies of the booklet to Washington, likely to Elizabeth Toldridge, and from there, the works were supposed to reach the appropriate recipients. Lovecraft and Barlow publicly denied authorship, pretending to be surprised and amused by the text, as if they were seeing it for the first time.

A gravedigger in a certain village discovers a substance that gives the appearance of death to living beings. He intends to use it on his enemies, but in the end, he himself becomes a victim.

The horror in the cemetery is distinguished by a slightly gallows humor and the rustic slang of the characters. The story at times resembles the works of the master of macabre, Ambrose Bierce.

The last of the stories written by Lovecraft for Hazel Heald. Common to all of them is the motif of transformation and paralysis or incapacitation. Heald paid regularly, and H.P. Lovecraft didn't seem to complain about her, which cannot be said about other clients.

The thief is trying to steal the treasure of the "Wizard-Beast." Of course, he faces punishment. The main motif resembles Dunsany's texts about similar thieves, and as for Lovecraft's works themselves – The Terrible Old Man. The Hoard of the Wizard-Beast were likely intended to be part of Robert H. Barlow's cycle, The Annals of the Jinns. The novella was not published during the authors' lifetimes. The Hoard of the Wizard-Beast is 60% authored by Lovecraft.
