Have you heard the phrase that “Team work makes the dream work”? In this first week we will be reminded and encouraged that no matter what is going on in our lives we are Seek Unity with one another. Paul is specifically speaking to the church body and in the way they live out their faith in their communities. Division, gossiping, lying, etc only work to Satan’s advantage to tear a church down but the Spirit of God is greater than the spirit of this world and with that power we also seek after unity no matter what.

It has been said that when we lose faith fear is there to take its place. We so often fear what we cannot control, fear what we cannot understand, and fear what might happen if we step outside of our comfort zones. 1 John 4:18 says that there is no fear in love but perfect love casts out all fear. As we live through this perfect love given to us in Christ we are empowered to step boldly and faithfully into the good works that have been prepared for us. We lean not on our own understanding or power but we lean into the power of the Holy Spirit working through us. Through the cross we have the power to overcome our fears and step out.

Is there anything more valuable than time? Whatever we claim as priorities in life we tend to give our time to. This week Paul is reminding us all of our primary calling as followers of Jesus. Paul is urging us to prioritize this, value this, and make time for this. How do we do that? What does that mean for the other things we value?

Many desire to reach out and be neighborly but often are held back by timidity. By definition timidity is the lack of courage or confidence. So how does a Christian lean into their own timidity and not use it as a reason to not cross the street or reach out? This week we will look how we have access to the full armor of God and as we rely, not on ourselves, but on the strength of God then we can follow in the footsteps of Joshua and lead confident and courageous lives for the Gospel.
