Geek Heart Games

We are so excited to be doing our 25th Episode! We're celebrating by talking about our all time favorite games - the ones we love to play, the ones we grew up with, the ones where friendships were built, the ones that will always have a special place in our hearts! There's some Pokemon, some Mario, some Evil of the Resident persuasion, but you'll have to listen to discover the whole list!

**SPOILER ALERT:** Some of the games, we can't talk about what they mean to us without going into spoilers, so here are the timecodes for the parts you might need to skip:

Mario Odyssey: Start 0:50:54. End 0:51:29

Gone Home: Start 1:12: 56. End 1:16:01

Red Dead Redemption: Start 1:23:07. End 1:27:05

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice: Start 2:15:35. End 2:26.36.

Thank you so much to all our listeners, our friends on Twitter and our amazing group on Discord. We love you and can't wait to keep making more fun episodes for you!

This week, we've been playing the reworked heroes in Overwatch, #WarGames, Viva Pinata & the adorably charming Yoku's Island Express. In the world of upcoming sequels, we have varying levels of hype for Red Dead Redemption 2 and Rage 2, but we are both super-hyped for Doom Eternal! We discuss what possible Diablo projects might be on the way, and how you can get a jump start on Divinity Original Sin 2 on ps4. Finally, we share our listener responses on what games you like to watch but not play.

Destiny 2's Solstice of Heroes event is live and it's sucking up a lot of time. We go through the positives and negatives of this latest event. We've also been playing Tera, ChromaGun, Assault Android Cactus and Dead by Daylight - one of the free PS Plus games this month. We talk about what other freebies we're excited for this month and discuss what we consider a backlog.

We have a special question for our listeners: What video game do you like to watch streaming but not play? Write to us at [email protected] and we'll be sharing listener answers next week!

Our crew has wildly differing opinions on the revival of No Man's Sky. We've also been playing Neverwinter, Urban Trial Playground, Warhammer Vermintide 2 and Cody's been playing some weird game called Schmokemon Shmy? We use our wacky time-fart time travel abilities to bring you all the excitement from the Overwatch League Finals as well as some fun Overwatch League Trivia. In the news, Destiny is producing a hardcover version of the Grimoire lore and Hellblade is coming to VR (but only Oculus Rift & HTC Vive).

It's our 21st Episode! Cody's having a great day! Sam might have food poisoning! But we power through. We've been having fun with the new free to play shooter, Defiance 2050. Cody missed out on his Mewtwo raid, but he's been playing Pokemon Y (and this is the last time he's allowed to talk about Pokemon for the next few months) along with the new JRPG, Octopath Traveler. Sam tried out the Speedrunners demo and has gone back to Persona 5. Sam makes some really dumb jokes in her excitement about the Overwatch League Playoffs. In the news, we've got a Friday the 13th Ultimate Slasher edition coming, Nathan Fillion made an Uncharted fan film, and we've got a new story trailer for the Spider-Man game!

Sam has tried Pokemon Go. We talk about Pokemon. A lot. But we also cover the mysterious Oxenfree, the tedious State of Decay 2, and the free COD Black Ops 3! Overwatch League has returned (and it's now televised!) and Sam recaps her excitement of the first day of matches (after this recording, Philadelphia Fusion won their Quarterfinal map so plan for more excitement once the semi's roll around!) In the News, Warframe is coming to Switch!

Pokemon Go is making a comeback! Is a Squirtle in sunglasses enough to lure Sam in? We also talk about skeleton dinosaurs in Ark, spinning limousines in Roundabout, if For Honor is not for everyone, and a couple of games dealing with dementia. It's a light news week, but we've got a jam-packed fall headed our way, so we set out our plans for which games we can't miss, and which ones can only come from a sale.

This week in a Geek Heart Games first...Cody's played a sports game - NHL 18, and he's been making some serious progress in Hollow Knight! Sam faces her nemesis when she tries The Crew 2 Beta, and has been having a blast with the hilarious West of Loathing and Elder Scrolls Legends. Our duo has widely different opinions on Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. We go through the latest free games from PS Plus and Games with Gold...and we'd like to request that Playstation stop pushing the Quantic Dreams games on us please. We've got a quick segment on speedruns we've seen on Games Done Quick's summer event. AND OVERWATCH'S NEW HERO IS AN ADORABLE HAMSTER!!! We round things out with a few listener questions - thanks to everyone who wrote in!

To celebrate Pride Month, we're talking about our favorite games with queer representation like Gone Home, Hustle Cat, Horizon Zero Dawn, Overwatch, Butterfly Soup and more! Queerly Represent Me (@QueerlyRepMe) runs a catalog of games with queer representation and they've been hosting Twitter polls all month to determine everyone's favorite game. We talk about some entries from their recent Game Jam which you can find at https://itch.io/jam/queerly-representing. And @IntChloeSpencer has been focusing on queer games this month for her 1 Game 1 Minute YouTube series at https://t.co/vCtfCWInPK. Overwatch League has continued to be a great supporter of pride month and congrats to LA Valiant - the stage 4 champions! We round out with some sad news for Friday the 13th, but some happy news for Xbox, Nintendo and Minecraft.

CORRECTION: Trials Fusion does have female versions of skins! Sam just doesn't read!
