Diversity of cultures is one of the things that makes America truly beautiful. Depending on where you are, you're able to immerse yourself into your neighbor's cultural identity while also sharing your own. This leads to greater empathy and understanding between people whose ancestors may have lived oceans apart. But when does appreciation turn into appropriation?

You knew this was coming. We love it, you love it. There was no way we were not going to talk about the global phenomenon that is anime. For the last half century, anime has gone far beyond the borders of Japan to reach audiences all around the world. That includes black people, so much so that anime has become a valid part of black American culture. And as anime stories evolve and diversify, so have anime characters. However, some portrayals are obviously better than others. Today we're going to talk about how anime has portrayed black people and the ever-changing relationship between black viewers and anime.

In many ways social media has brought the world together, but it has also been a toxic source of division. Even before the pandemic, it's hard to get away from the awfulness in the world. Because we're forced to quarantine and keep our interactions online, it just seems like something horrible is happening every day. It can feel like the world is full of hate, ignorance and overall toxic behavior, even from our own family. Today, we'll be talking about how to maintain healthy online hygiene.

Today we will be discussing one of the panels from the first DC Fandome event. Great content dropped that day including trailers and behind the scenes for Wonder Woman '84, The Batman and Suicide Squad, but one stood out: BAWSE Females of Color. As actresses of color from across the DC universe, these women discussed their personal experiences, the impact of their characters and what it means to be a boss.
Special shoutout to Emmy winners Regina King for best lead drama actress in Watchmen and Zendaya for being the youngest woman to win an Emmy for best lead drama actress in Euphoria! May they and other women of color continue to push boundaries and inspire us all.
