Examining The Doctor is back to talk about the long-lost and recently rereleased William Hartnell story Galaxy 4. Sometimes called Galaxy Four or The Chumblies.

Seth and Mark bring their signature blend of knowledge and humor to talk one of the few animated reconstruction stories starring William Hartnell’s First Doctor, Galaxy 4 (also referred to as Galaxy Four or The Chumblies).

Synopsis

The TARDIS lands on a seemingly livable but doomed planet. The Doctor and his companions stumble into a war between The Dharvins and The Rill over who will escape the planet before it explodes!

DC Properties Shake-Up

A lot went down within the DC Comics TV and movie properties in the wake of the Warner Bros. Discovery merger..

1:45 – Batgirl Movie Canceled

WBD shelved Batgirl despite the movie having mostly been made. In addition to that, Michael Keaton’s cameo as Batman in the upcoming Aquaman sequel was replaced with Ben Affleck’s version. Could this mean that Affleck’s Batman will stick around? Or could it be “one and done”? Remember that after Justice League: The Snyder Cut was announced, both Affleck and Jared Leto retuned to their respective roles as Batman and Joke in a scene filmed specially for its release. Could DC be following in Marvel’s footsteps with a tighter written movie universe? Or could the individual movies be more standalone?

25:35 – The End of the Arrowverse?

The Flash is set to end next Fall 2023. Not only does this mark the end of its nine year run, but it also marks the end of the Arrowverse. How could the series end on a satisfactory note? Could familiar characters return? Could this be a crossover event that acts as a series finale?

39:45 – Star Wars Talk

Disney premiered the first trailer for Andor. Much like we discussed previously, the series looks like it will be more about the dormation of the Rebel Alliance than Cassian Andor himself. From what we see of the trailer, it looks it also seems to have elements that George Lucas himself put in his movies. That does not mean George is involved, just that Andor may feel more like a story George would tell. And yes, this includes The Prequels. Seth and train discuss how Rogue One flowed much like George’s movies while Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi did not.

Writer/Director Tony Gilroy confirmed the show will be two season and will head directly into Rogue One.

Marvel had a TON of reveals in their Hall H Panel.

2:30 – The Multiverse Saga

The first three MCU Phases were collectively called The Infinity Saga. The next three will collectively be called The Multiverse Saga. Phase Four will end with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Phase Five will begin next year with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. 2025 will have not one but two Avengers movies, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.

Loki met He Who Remains in the first season of his own series. We already know that is one of Kang’s variants and that other variants will be encountered in future films and series. It would stand to reason that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will see a massive battle pitting all the heroes against Kang and possibly his variants.

As for Secret Wars, it’s a pretty safe bet that will be an adaption of the 2015 comics event of the same name. Given that Doctor Doom is a major part of Secret Wars in the comics, it’s safe to assume that we will see him finally make his way to the MCU. Secret Wars has been compared to DC’s 1980s event Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Since the 2015 Secret Wars comic blended the 616 Universe with the Ultimate Universe, it’s a safe bet that the movie version will do the same. Don’t be surprised if new versions of the characters we saw from the first three MCU Phases join the lineup. Yes, this means we could get a new actor cast as Iron Man.

16:30 – Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer

The first Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer confirms that this will be an MCU without T’Challa. It is set to a cover of Bob Marley’s “No Woman. No Cry”

It looks like we may have a Namor who blames Wakanda for ruining his family and childhood. Hence why he is seeking revenge in adulthood.

26:15 – X-Men ’97

X-Men ’97 debuts on Disney+ late next year. Marvel showed what some of the characters will look like. It seems like it will follow the “Trial Of Magneto” story from the comics.

As of this recording, only Parts I-IV have aired. But that still leaves a lot of stuff to go over including:

* The Imperial Base/Tomb was eerily reminiscent of a creepy Transformers episode. * Vivien Lyra Blair’s performance as a young Leia* The return of Joel Edgarton as Owen Lars* The politics going on with Vader, Reva, and the other Inquisitors

And, of course, we could not go through this review without mentioning the character of Reva and the problems she presents. You may not hear opinions like this in very many places right now. Don’t worry, it has NOTHING to do with Moses Ingram’s performance. Anybody who’s followed us for a good length of time knows our opinions when it comes to actors and directors. The issues stem more toward how the character fits into the setting of Star Wars as opposed to other villains and how they are presented.

Warner Bros. released the first full-length trailer for Black Adam, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the title role. The trailer asks the question of whether Adam will be a hero or villain. Will the movie answer that question?

Variety reports that the internal reception to The Flash movie has been very good. Is Warner Bros. Discovery even going to release the film with so many headaches caused by Ezra Miller’s legal issues?

11:30 – DC Advised to keep Cavill as Superman

There are a ton of shakeups in the Discovery/WB merger. One such shakeup is the naming of a new head honcho to overlook DC movie developments. One insider reportedly is advising him to continue the DC reboot while keeping Henry Cavill as Superman.

16:10 – The Bad Batch Season Two

We got out the first glimpse of The Bad Batch’s second season in a trailer shown at Star Wars Celebration. The story seems to center around whether Clone Force 99 will be able to find allies in the early days of The Empire.

22:05 – Tales of the Jedi

Tales of the Jedi is another animated Star Wars series headed to Disney+ that will feature the return of Liam Neeson to the role of Qui-Gon Jinn. Will it be an episodic series or several standalone stories like an anthology? Could we see other eras as well as characters we already know?

6:35 – Full She-Hulk trailer dropped

Marvel also debuted a full trailer for She-Hulk: Attorney At Law to the tune of 20 million views on their YouTube page alone. We she break the fourth wall like she did in the comics?

12:30 – Stan Lee Cameos will return

Stan “The Man” Lee will return thanks to a deal between Stan Lee Universe and Marvel.

16:30 – Daredevil at Disney+

Variety reports that Disney is rebooting Daredevil for the MCU. Of course, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones were part of their own shows that aired on Netflix. All of those shows were canceled in 2018. Pretty safe bet this will not be the TV-MA format we saw on the Netflix versions.

19:45 – Secret Invasion Timeline

Details have come out about Marvel’s Secret Invasion series. It will reportedly take place during The Blip.

1:05 – Arrowverse Shows Canceled, More to Come?

The much-hyped Warner Bors./Discovery merger was finalized last month. Since then, some WB and DC projects have been halted or modified. While we may not know for sure at this point, it’s possible that the merger may have had something to do with these projects being scrapped.

1:30 – Arrowverse Shows Canceled

CW has canceled Batwoman and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. This marks the first time CW has canceled an Arrowverse show. Arrow itself was never canceled. It ended because the producers chose to end it. There is no word yet how LoT‘s seventh season finale will be addressed, as it ended on a cliffhanger.

16:10 – Several DC Movies are changing release dates

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has been pushed back to a March 17, 2023 release. while The Flash will now hit theaters on June 23, 2023. This means Michael Keaton will be seen as Batman before The Flash premieres since Batgirl will drop sometime this year. Keaton considered returning to Batman before getting approached by WB.

Note: At the time of recording, we thought the release date changes were announced in May, not March.

A sequel to The Batman has been greenlit with Matt Reeves returning to direct.

24:30 – Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

A final Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer dropped. The film has already sold $42 million in advance ticket sales. Early reviews have stated that it is still very much a Sam Raimi film. Hopefully, this still means cameos by Bruce Campbell and a 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88.

28:20 – More Spider-Man spinoffs are coming

Venom 3 with Tom Hardy and El Muerto with Bad Bunny are officially in the works. They join the untitled Kraven movie as part of Sony’s “Spider-Verse”. Hardy actually signed a three-picture deal when he made the first ...

Veteran character actor and King Of Geek Cred Christopher Lloyd will appear in Season Three of The Mandalorian.

6:20 – Obi-Wan Kenobi delayed

Disney+ has announced a delay in the release of the latest Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, the series will debut with two episodes rather than just one.

12:45 – Joker scene from The Batman released

The Batman director Matt Reeves released a scene cut from the theatrical release that features the latest big-screen incarnation of The Joker. While The Clown Prince Of Crime does appear in the final cut, it is very brief and does not show his face. Fans have speculated that a sequel would have Batman’s most famous nemesis as the main villain. Reeves stated in a recent interview with Variety that we could see more Joker sooner rather than later. Two spinoff series have been revealed, with one focused on The Penguin and the other on Arkham Asylum and The GCPD.

9:25 – Who Is Moon Knight?

Moon Knight has often been called “Marvel’s Batman”. But unlike The Caped Crusader, he actually has had superpowers based on the rotation of Earth’s Moon.

We are back with a fun-filled news edition of Geekville Radio. A lot of Marvel and Star Wars talk before a deep dive into the latest superhero movie hit The Batman. But first, a look at the career of the late great William Hurt.

1:10 – William Hurt (1951-2022)

William Hurt passed away Sunday at the age of 71. His career spanned six decades and consisted of all kinds of genres from drama to comedy to sci-fi to action. Marvel fans of course will probably remember him most as General (later Secretary Of State) Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in five MCU films.

He also shared the screen with Emperor Palpatine himself, Ian McDiarmid, in this scene from 1983’s Gorky Park.

13:30 – Deadpool 3 has a director

Deadpool 3 will be directed by Shawn Levy. Fans want Hugh Jackman to cameo, even if it’s not as Wolverine.

16:15 – Werewolf By Night

Marvel will have a Halloween special called Werewolf By Night that will be directed by Michael Giacchino. The name Werewolf By Night may be recognized by ardent Marvel fans because that was the title in which Moon Knight debuted.

We will have a primer episode for the Moon Knight character before his Disney+ series drops at the end of this month. It is worth noting that the TV series will not have any direct connection to any current MCU continuity. It will be a completely standalone story.
