Good Evening Insomniacs, welcome to a bonus episode for you guys since I felt that my main episode was too short however, I will do a monthly recap on new release horror films each month for you guys. Good Evening, welcome to the first annual Halloween Special of Gem  Mint Horror. What makes it a halloween special well we are going to be discussing about films that center around the holiday and for tonights film its call Haunt. Now This film is another movie that just screams out the love for the holiday.  Now Haunt is about On Halloween night, a group of friends encounter an "extreme" haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears. The night turns deadly as they come to the horrifying realization that some nightmares are real. Yes this is a simple horror film and if you are a long time listener of the show you will know that simple is scary haha. I love this film a lot and think that the description is good enough to peak someones interest so I would suggest you guys go watch the film first then come back to hear the scene I choose for the best viewing experience but if you are one to stick the show first, well I hope I do it enough justice to convince you to watch it. Haunt can be streamed with an AMC + or Shudder subscription and guys if you want to let me know what your thoughts were on the film or episode follow me down below were we can talk all things horror. Now for those of you new tuning in at this late hour welcome, here on gem mint horror we talk about lesser known horror films in order to find you guys a new favorite horror movie. This show is made for those who love horror films or a newbie who needs help on where to start when watching horror films. The way I do it is by doing a scene of the movie to peak enough interest for you guys to go watch it and then talk about why this film is worth it haha. Now Trick r Treat is about Five interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband; and a mean old man meets his match with a demonic, supernatural trick-or-treater. Now if that doesn’t peak your interest do you even love halloween ? I really like this film and love that this film intertwines the stores so well and for tonight I will do one of the stories with little set up just to get into it. On tonights episode we talk about one of my favorite westerns Bone Tomahawk and for those who don't know what this film is about I suggest watching it first then listening to the episode because this film is so good ! Bone Tomahawk is about the dying days of the old west, an elderly sheriff and his posse set out to rescue their town's doctor from cannibalistic cave dwellers. Now if that doesn't interest you well I hope my episode does, I want to know what you guy think about this film and if you like the whole western/horror mixing together because I personally do. I think more films should be set during the wild Wild West like Will Smiths film but a horror film, haha just kidding but I do like the idea of more western horror films. Intruder is about an overnight stock crew of a local supermarket find themselves being stalked and slashed by a mysterious maniac. I know it is a lot of peoples fear to have one person in their lives go missing and in tonights episode we will be discussing a film that deals with that fear and this film is one of those unsettling films that makes you feel a certain way after watching. Now this film is a found footage film that is styled as a documentary as some in this sub genre do and I like that for horror films but this film does it so right. The film I am talking about is Joel Andersons Lake Mungo, now I have seen that this film has been getting recommended around the horror community and I am happy about that because this film does deserve the praise. Hey there guys, Welcome back to your favorite late night radio show Gem Mint Horror ! Im your host Joel and on this show for those new Insomniacs tuning in we talk about lesser known horror films in order to find you guys a new favorite horror movie ! Now lesser known can be subjective because this show is for horror fans and those who love movies and want to start watching horror films but don’t know where to start. We do not talk about bigger name films like The Conjuring, The Exorcist, Insidious, or Sinister on the regular episodes only on bonus episodes, we normally talk about films that have 60% on rotten tomatoes or under that are worth your time or maybe worth a second chance because there are always hidden gems of horror films that don’t have the best rating or stars but are better than big budget horror films. On tonights episode we are talking about a film that made me and most of my family want to own a gun that movie is Bryan Bertino’s 2008 home invasion film The Strangers ! This film stars Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman as our main protagonist who are being terrorized by a group of three masked people and make their night a missable hell. Ahhh Paris the city of love, what most people don’t know is about the 186 mile catacombs that house a labyrinth of tunnels housing old bones from the transfer of bones from the parochial cemeteries of Paris. Now there are a bunch of creepy pastas and first hand encounters of things going bump in the night down in those tunnels. That is what happens in tonights episode on the controversial film in the horror community but I am here to convince you that this film is worth your time and that film is John Erick Dowdle’s As Above so Below. This is a found footage film that was released in 2014 and I remember liking it when I first saw this movie and I know this film is talked about in the horror community but I have heard some bad things about it so it might discourage newbies to horror to look over it but I am here to tell you to watch it. This show is about lesser known horror films but as well as films that I deem need a second chance, almost like a film going back to the picture show haha. As Above so Below is When a team of explorers ventures into the catacombs that lie beneath the streets of Paris, they uncover the dark secret that lies within this city of the dead. Now that is a pretty straight forward synopsis for this film and I like it because it tells you what its about and I think with that you can decide if you want to watch it. I will say currently this film is only rentable on streaming services like VUDU, Apple TV, Prime Video, and anywhere that offers digital rentals but it is worth the money to rent. How many of you guys want to travel the world or even do a road trip in a new country with your favorite people ? I know its a dream of mine to do a road trip around all of Iceland one day and other beautiful places in our great big world but what would you do if your stranded and you have to trust the only person for miles. I know for those social people out there its probably no doubt you’ll accept the help but for those who overthink things or fear of not knowing the stranger, would you accept the help ? In tonights film we follow a group of friends on a trip who are relying on a stranger who is offering his generous help but looks a little sketchy. The film I am talking about is Greg McLean’s 2005 film Wolf Creek, this is one of those hidden gem slashers that I think deserves more attention mostly cause it is set int he outback and I think we should have more horror films set there. I mean imagine a tremors film set there haha would be crazy but in Wolf Creek the film is about three backpackers stranded in the Australian outback are plunged inside a hellish nightmare of insufferable torture by a sadistic psychopathic. The film for tonights episode is David Slade’s 2007 Vampire horror film Eyes Wide Shut haha no I am kidding I am talking about 30 Days of night ! I love this movie and I hope you guys do after seeing it and if you have seen it well I hope we share somewhat of the same opinion because this is by far my favorite vampire film. Now this film is about After an Alaskan town is plunged into darkness for a month, it is attacked by a bloodthirsty gang of vampires.
