Hey there creatures of the night, welcome back to Gem Mint Horror, Here on Gem Mint Horror we love talking about lesser known horror films in order to find you guys a new favorite horror movie. Now I am your host Joel Alba here to keep you insomniacs company as we dive into scenes of horror films in order to help fuel your nightmares. Now if this is your first time tuning in we are currently on our annual Holiday special and what that means is all the films for the whole month of December will be horror films that center around the holiday of Christmas. Now the way this works on Gem Mint Horror is I give you what the film is about, who was involved and a scene from the film. Now this is your spoiler warning so if you want to watch the film fresh with no insight, I always recommend watching the film first then coming back to the episode to hear what scene I choose and why ? Now if you don’t care and want to know why I am recommending certain films listen to the episode first you filthy animal. For tonights episode we are doing it on another tale of the curse of the full moon. That film is called The Wolf of Snow Hollow, written and directed by Jim Cummings who created a beautiful looking film, I love this movie and I hope you guys add it to your annual Christmas movie list. The Wolf of Snow Hollow is streamable on Prime Video and stars Jim Cummings, Riki Lindhome, and Robert Forster in this horror comedy centered in a snowy town around Christmas. Now if this is your first time tuning into the show well here on Gem Mint Horror we talk about lesser known horror films in order to find you guys a new favorite horror movie. We don’t talk about big budget horror films or new releases on regular episodes. I usually aim for films that are lesser known or deserve a second chance because all films deserve that respect. Now we have finally made it to the Christmas season if you insomniacs celebrate it but for the whole month of December I will be recommending horror films that have those Christmas Undertones underneath them or just in the background. Films that you will love to add to your every year list around this season and films that you could watch while its snowing outside and you have your Christmas tree/lights on. Ahh isn’t that a nice setting I just describe and if your not a holly jolly person well at least they are horror films I am recommending haha now on with tonights episode, Tonight we are talking about a film that has a small following but definitely deserves more attention. That film is the 2021 video game adaptation of Werewolfs Within, directed by Josh Ruben and also staring Sam Richardson and Milana Vayntrub in this buddy horror film. Werewolfs Within is about a video game adaptation of a video game about Werewolfs attacking a small town. Now since Thanksgiving is over and we are all ready to trample people over discounted electronics /appliances for Christmas all month Iong, figured what better film to recommend you than Casey Tebo’s Black Friday. Black Friday is about a group of toy store employees must protect each other from a horde of parasite infected shoppers. Yes basic back of the box but not for a basic movie because this film has captured the whole black friday holiday we have in the states. Tonights episode is on one of my favorite zombie films that I believe needs more viewers and that film is Yannick Dahan and Benjamin Rocher’s La Horde or in the states The Horde. The Horde is a foreign zombie film that is done well with gory and fear in the hot seat of this film. The actors in the film are what sell it and so is the location for this film, it is set in a high rise apartment build on the other side of the tracks so it is isolated and only one way out and is down. The Horde is about An end of the world battle between gangsters, cops and zombies. This film can only be watched on Plex for free with ads or rented in the states, trust me this film is worth your time and money and I would love to hear what you guys thought of this film. Now for tonights episode we are talking about a film that until recent this recent year has had more viewers than ever and better praise. This is a film that is one of Stephen Kings best novellas and stand behind this film since I was a kid and it is The Mist. The Mist is about A freak storm unleashes a species of bloodthirsty creatures on a small town, where a small band of citizens hole up in a supermarket and fight for their lives. Now I hope the back of the box already intrigues you cause it did when I first saw the trailer for the film and explaining it to others. Now tonights episode is a foreign Netflix original that I loved when I first saw it and after seeing it again for you guys believe it should be talked about again and if you were iffy about seeing it well now I am here to tell you to watch it. That film is Veronica and let me tell you this is one of those Netflix films that was made with so much care and passion behind it. Veronica is about a case in Madrid, 1991. A teen girl finds herself besieged by an evil supernatural force after she played Ouija with two classmates. This movie has a simple but interesting back of the box but its the execution of the film that makes this movie terrifying. This movie is directed by one of my favorite Spaniard directors Paco Plaza who if you haven't seen his other films watch them next ! Good evening, insomniacs of the night, welcome back to your late night radio show Gem Mint Horror, Staring courage haha no me Joel as I discuss a scene from lesser known horror films in order to find you guys a new favorite horror movie. Now this film is just a regular episode as I am saving the last Halloween episode on All Hallows Eve ! Tonights film is on more known as everyone knows the exorcist series but this is definitely one of my favorite one in the serious and deserves a second chance as reviews are half half and with newbies coming into the series I think this is a great one to start with and that film is The Last Exorcism. Now this film is about a troubled evangelical minister agrees to let his last exorcism be filmed by a documentary crew. Yes this film is a found footage film and wait hear me out I didn’t believe this film could have worked in this film style but believe me it works well. If you have been listening this whole month of October you know that it is our first annual Halloween Special, what makes it special well all the films we are doing a show on for this month are set on the holiday for halloween. Yes we are giving you films to fuel your nightmares all month long and I hope you enjoy watching these recommendations but please please don’t blame us for the lack of sleep. Now if you are a new listener Gem Mint Horror is a show that centers around lesser known horror films in order to find you guys a new favorite horror movie. I am your host WolfMan Joel cause I idolize Wolf man Jack baby, Now tonights episode is on a film that I think is perfect since we are nearing Halloween is a movie that has the perfect balance of horror and comedy ! Did I mention it was Found Footage and fits the criteria of this show ? Yes yes although this film was just released this month on October 6th I feel more people need to watch it and that film is Deadstream !!! Deadstream is directed by a husband and wife duo Joesph Winter and Vanessa Winter, while Joesph is the main star of the film and I am surprised I have never heard of them before since they are so talented. Deadstream is about an internet personality tries to win back followers by live-streaming himself in a haunted house, simple back of the box and I love it. This is what the whole film is about and I always say the simpler horror films are usually the best. I hope you guys watch this film and you can do so on AMC or shudder, thanks for giving this show a listen. Remember insomniacs, there is a horror film you never heard of and I'm going to present it to you, to make it your new favorite horror movie until next Friday, try to keep up the good fight against our nightmares.
