Gen X Is Pissed

"When I look at all of this combined with these trials, which, in-and-of-themselves seem to be deliberately designed to “increase ambiguity”… something is off. I get the distinct impression that the hearings are set up as smoke and mirrors to distract from the work that’s really going on. 

Is the information in them important? Yes. It’s important for the American people to know that their elections are not secure and demand that something change. That has to happen. Is making the public aware of these things going to change anything? No. No it isn’t. Certain aspects of this may reach the Supreme Court, but I don’t think that everything hinges on what we have access to in these hearings. 

They are overloading us with information, too much information, SO much information that we don’t know where to start looking first… we just know we’re angry. Then President Trump comes out of hiding after a month of silence and goes in swinging at the rally. “We’ll never give up, we’ll never stop fighting…” yadda, yadda… He’s saying this now, because he can. He feels confident now that things are in place, that’s why he’s broken his silence."

I’m your friend, your neighbor, your coworker… but I’m fed up with your shit. For every one of me that pops up on your radar, there are countless others who feel the same way. I am the symptom of a greater ailment. I am the fever that marks the onset of an infection that the body is trying to fight off. I am someone who spent the last decade actively avoiding news and politics, only to start paying attention this year due to COVID and find that you’ve all gone batshit crazy.

I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

I think, one way or another, this country will survive and ultimately thrive. We are in a state of transition right now. Long hidden corruptions are coming to the surface where they can be cut away now, like a tumor. Gen X demands the truth, and we’re done asking nicely. It’s time for the world to find out what we’re really made of. Underestimate us at your own peril. We are finally coming into our own, our age demographic will run this country in another couple of years as these old, withered and entrenched career politicians of the 20th century fade away. Good riddance. Gen X is coming to the House, to the Senate and to the Presidency in the next decade, and we’re pissed. We will have honest discussions about real problems that need real solutions, and we’ll make it happen because that’s what we do. We are at our best when our feet are to the fire and there is no choice but to fix something. I’m going to fix as much as I can in my time left in this world because my children deserve better than the looming threat of communism. They deserve elections where they trust in its validity. They deserve news that isn’t propaganda. They deserve an education that isn’t biased, where they can actually learn to think critically and analyze problems to generate solutions. They deserve a president who makes them proud to be an American. They deserve opportunities to start their own businesses and follow their dreams without being taxed and regulated to death, strangled by red tape. They deserve to go to court and be innocent until proven guilty, not to be forced to plead guilty to crimes they never committed because they’re afraid of our judicial system. They deserve to be judged by the content of their character, not their gender, skin tone or sexual preference. They deserve Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Welcome back to the Gen X Is Pissed podcast, I’m Jerica Benton and today I’m going to bridge the partisan divide and tell you why I think we’re in a world of shit, regardless of who wins the election. Of course, I think the pile of manure will be bigger or smaller depending on who wins, but either way there is a stinking heap of shit here for us to sort out over the next couple of years. There are some things going on right now that every single American should be worried about, regardless of their political belief. Of course, there will always be some extremist who’s like “But I LIKE that… meh” and those guys can go piss on an electric fence. I’m talking to your normal, every-day American here, particularly those who “aren’t into politics”.

"So... let’s pull it all together. A new hierarchy exists, not where the person who is the most talented, most hardworking, most deserving is theoretically at the top, but where the person who has been the victim of the most oppression and injustice is at the top. At the same time, those at the top demand that the majority, those at the bottom of the hierarchy who have NOT been so severely disadvantaged, pay their dues in order to be absolved of their crime of being the oppressor. Instead of being responsible for your own care, because you recognize the intrinsic value and worth of your life and the lives of others, you put the onus onto others to see that your needs are met. How do you know when you’ve properly paid your dues as the oppressor? The answer is, you can’t, and there will never be enough groveling, enough apologizing, enough money, enough “justice” to satisfy this kind of demand."

"Overthrowing a way of life, changing the trajectory of an entire nation, eroding the concepts of freedom, doesn’t happen overnight. There has been a tireless, endless onslaught of tiny infractions for generations. It may have taken us a while to get here, but I believe we’ve reached a critical tipping point. I think there comes a point where these changes, these poisonous ideas, reach critical mass and at that point its momentum becomes nearly unstoppable."

This episode is dedicated to Terry Goodkind, who passed away on September 17th, 2020. Terry Goodkind was an author of the famous Sword of Truth series. I felt the world shift when I read these books, and I knew I was never going to be the same. The pen is truly mightier than the sword, and Terry Goodkind proved it. 

I can’t offer enough thanks to him for teaching me what Marxism was before I knew that it was called Marxism. Thank you for sneaking the concepts of individualism, heroism and nobility of the human spirit into a book that captured my imagination long enough for me to realize what it was I had in my hands.

It’s time to shift the Gen X mentality from being 60 million armies of one, to being one army of 60 million voices, all saying loud and clear “We’re not ready to give up!”. I’m willing to put forth the effort, and I know that there are a lot of others out there who feel the same way. Like little magnets, we need to allow ourselves to be drawn together in this common cause, and repel the ideas that would tear our nation apart. We can be the voice of reason, the mediator, the arbitrator at the table… and we can use our independent and free-thinking personalities to withstand the corruption that would try to tear us down.

Stand up Gen X. Get involved. It’s time.
