Gene is best known for writing and illustrating a huge number of children's books, with some of his best-sellers being Now & Ben: The Modern Inventions of Benjamin Franklin and Timeless Thomas: How Thomas Edison Changed Our Lives. He also illustrated books and style guides for Between the Lions and created several animated inserts for Sesame Street in the late '90s. Currently, he has his own podcast, The Barretta Brothers, which he co-hosts with his brother and previous guest, Bill Barretta!
