On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I recap the Mashing in Memorial, AKA the OU game. As a result, defensive coordinator Erik Chinander was handed his walking papers. It is unprecedented to lose to major coaches on one staff, mid-season. First Frost, and now his right hand man. This tells me that interim Head Coach Mickey Joseph ain't playin' around.

We take a look at the cumulative stats that contributed to Chinander's demise, and then look forward to the rest of 2022 and beyond. Including a discussion about a certain coach, whom if hired, might divide this fanbase even further...including the hosts of this podcast. Would be entertaining though. Lol.

But before we get into the game and the future of Husker football, we take a nostalgic trip into the past as we talk with filmmaker Justin LePara, the director of Day by Day, a Husker documentary that debuted Part 1 in May of this year. Justin has plenty of stories to share, and hopefully we will also get some insight as to when the first part will be available to stream and/or download.

Then, we will focus on Part 2, in which former head coach Scott Frost plays an integral role. It will be interesting to hear Justin's insight into the final cut process after the dismissal of such a major player in those last three years of Husker domination.

On this episode of the Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I look back at Interim HC Mickey Joseph's first press conference since taking over for former head coach Scott Frost.

Then we turn our attention to #6 Oklahoma and examine how perhaps a change at the top could inspire this team to play better, and maybe even pull off the monumental upset. Anything can happen on any given Saturday, and I have no doubt the team will see some bootleg film of their new coach getting cheap shot shoved into the bench area on the sidelines in his final game as a Husker, thanks to the Sooners.

In this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I recap the defensive dingleberry that ultimately cost Scott Frost his job, after the Huskers were defeated 45-42 by Georgia Southern, and THEIR new head coach Clay Helton.

Then we open up the stream for any and all who wish to be on the show with us to vent, cry, or celebrate the end of the Frost Era. For our part, we are in a bit of mourning because Nebraska's prodigal son had returned home, and then found himself persona non grata on the sideline of his alma mater after less than 5 years. We all thought it was a good move, to bring back the hottest coach in college football after the 2017 season, only to find out it wasn't. Why? Well, shit. We don't know. But we'll damn sure talk about it.

Beware. We have no idea what our guests are going to say...if we have any. No matter what, it should be a good therapy session for what ails Husker Nation, namely the pain and agony that was yet another one score loss in the now-over Scott Frost Era.

On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, we welcome Brandon Frantz, a fellow Husker fan from Iowa as our guest panelist. On the docket tonight is a review of the Huskers' close, but not-so-close 38-17 win over North Dakota on Saturday in their home opener at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, NE.

We look back at all the final stats and debut our new awards segment: the Offensive Game-Breaker, and Defensive Game-Wrecker. Then we wrap up the NorDak game review by giving each position group on offense, defense, and special teams a rating on a 1-10 scale.

After that, we turn our attention to Georgia Southern. Needless to say, we expect a win. Maybe it will be easier, now that the Huskers have faced some adversity and overcome it. Or maybe it will be harder because we...well, you know.

On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I lick our self-inflicted wounds, brought on by Kool-Aid fueled belief that things in Lincoln had changed for the better. From looking absolutely potent on their first offensive drive, to the inconsistency that plagued Thompson and Company in the 2nd Half, it appears as though 2022 will be no different from the historic crap-fest that was 2021.

Oh, but they are sooooooooo close! Anyone else tired of hearing THAT?

We look back and then look forward to what should be a "get right" game against the Fighting Hawks of North Dakota this next Saturday. (Thank God it isn't that other North Dakota school.) But with a demoralized team, jet lag, and a head coach who still couldn't stay away from calling a bad play at a bad time, anything can happen. And probably will.
