When it comes to helping someone in crisis, I often hear people saying something which includes the phrase “… but I’m not qualified.”
It drives me nuts, because, any human being is ‘qualified’ to help another human being. Since when did you need to be ‘qualified’ to extend a helping hand, listen patiently, sit with another person, support others, offer help….?

What if you looked in the mirror and saw a skeletal version of yourself staring back at you? Would you be proud of your emaciated figure, or would you break down in tears? For Michele Mason, this haunting question became a daily reality when Anorexia Nervosa stripped her 5'11" frame down to a mere 96 pounds.
Decades later, Michele realised the immense importance of sharing her story rather than burying it deep within herself. In a candid and courageous memoir, Michele dives into the harrowing depths of her Anorexia hell, recounting her journey from before the deadly illness took hold, through the long, grueling days of her ordeal, and finally to the triumphant moment when she emerged victorious as a healthy, happy survivor.
Her book, Annihilating Anorexia is a testimony to the strength and resilience of the human spirit in the face of overwhelming adversity. Michele's story serves as a beacon of hope to those struggling with Anorexia, offering guidance, support, and a glimpse into the light at the end of the tunnel.

Is it worth five minutes of your time to learn how to stop an argument? Take control and make yourself proud. Confident people know it's not about winning.
Like most people, I learned the hard way how NOT to do it. But then, 30 years as a professional conflict resolver has taught me a thing or two about how to stop an argument, now I’m sharing it with you.

Single Session Therapy is a reality, but there are doubters. There would be, wouldn't there? Old ideas persist (or should that be 'resist'), not least among therapists themselves. Get over it, single-session therapy is needed, now more than ever.

Conflict is a fascinating and absorbing topic and despite many people’s anxiety about it, not one to be afraid of. On the contrary, since it is inevitable that we’ll have to deal with conflict throughout our lives, it is naive and irresponsible to stay on the sidelines and remain ignorant of the basic rules of the game.
But, before you wade in, remember the one essential truism I cover in this Tinycast.

Today's Tinycast was not my idea, but it is one I use all the time.
The title says it all, you can learn a lot by writing about your experience. Start with a short note, or a sentence or two, and build from there. Do it the old-fashioned way, in a notebook, because that helps the reflective process.
Try it and see, writing I mean...

Writing about one problem often shows up others that are more important.

Acts of kindness benefit the giver and the receiver, they can also ripple out. It's not just about being nice. Studies show that "kindness is an antidote to isolation and creates a sense of belonging. It helps reduce stress, brings a fresh perspective and deepens friendships. Kindness to ourselves can prevent shame from corroding our sense of identity and help boost our self-esteem." (Mental Health Foundation).
