Part of me would like to live in the world created by Snyder.

This AudioMusical idea is well worth it.

Would you listen to Is Anyone All Right? again? Why?

Yes, and I actually have already gone back and listened to parts because I wanted to be able to SING ALONG! with the characters. Because the dialogue (the context of why they're singing) leading up the songs is right there to hear, I was able to play some of my favorite songs for friends... and my mother... and they understood what was happening without me explaining.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Maybe Pablo. He had so much energy.

Which scene was your favorite?

Oddly enough, Dirk and Antoinette's songs made me laugh-out-loud, they really tickled my fancy, but there were other more musical songs that I sang along with, too. Loved the roommate's song, too.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The fight scene was very good. And Antoinette's realizations.

Any additional comments?

The elbow cancer anxiety was funny, and I also loved the stats and facts. I feel like I LEARNED!

Interesting take on divinity.

What made the experience of listening to Polly! the most enjoyable?

I do like the way Goldin laid out who God is. It is definitely the highlight of the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Polly. Not much to be said without giving the story away but definitely interesting.

What does Joe Hempel bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

Joe definitely brought the story to life.

The story was interesting and it would have been better in my opinion if God did not have the urges like us human. I am not saying it's wrong but the way God was described in the book it would seem God would not need to have human urges. It would have been better if Fifi was the naughty mistress that took care of all desires.

Funny witty

This book actually made me laugh pertaining to the religious aspect. This is a fast pace ride on the crazy train. I was confused for a few chapters then I found my sense of humor.

If you are sensitive to religious humor then this isn't for you. You should listen anyway.

The book Polly by Stephen Goldin is a very thought provoking book written in a way that keeps you laughing and guessing at who Polly actually is. Herodutus Shapiro meets Polly Perfect through a series of business and personal disasters that have him ready to give up on life. Through this chance meeting he learns more about life than he had ever conceived before. This book is funny, irreverent, and thought provoking. The audio book version was read well and really brought out the personalities of the characters. I read this book while running and increased my distance because I wanted to keep listening.

Good story

Surprisingly gripping. Story of father and son finding reconciliation told through the eyes of a stolen dog.. Interesting religious theories, mix of humanist, Catholicism, and Protestant.

I enjoyed some of the turns of phrase the author employed. Actually illustrated the narrative in places.

Could have used 2 narrators; sometimes difficult to tell who was speaking.

Overall, I recommend this book.

Clever, unique, captivating and delightful!

Using an erudite dog as a credible narrator greatly enhances this unusual story. The interesting flawed characters really appealing. The plot centers on an isolated dysfunctional family, yet provides an insightful view of American culture.

It's not to be missed.

The narrator, however, uses a distracting cadence, putting the wrong emphasis on so many words, that sentences are distorted. It's very distracting. Being able to do accents does not a good narrator make! I suggest reading this one on Kindle.

I found myself laughing out loud many times, and I was sad when it ended.

I liked the cast of characters in this story

Frank Felson has completely lost his way. During his youth, he played the drums for a band which got a hit. But none of that is present in the 42-year old Frank. He does not like his job and his wife wants a divorce. Frank gets fired and falls into a downward spiral of drunkenness, solitude, and self-destruction.

This book is presented as a comedy, showing the hilarious situations Frank faces after losing his job and trying to find his way in life. Some of the scenes were indeed very funny, but I had troubles enjoying others, especially the ones in which Frank is out with some friends. It could be that their conversations were too surrealistic for me or that I prefer a different kind of humor, but I think that the real reason is that I might not be among the kind of readers that this book is aimed to.

I found the book quite sad at times. The events were told with humor and irony, but the undertone of this story is a sad one. Due to some unfortunate events, a forty-year-old man is unable to get over some things and turn the page to go on with his life. He makes desperate attempts to pursue his dreams without thinking twice if it is really worth it.

I liked the cast of characters in this story, they were all quite different and diverse. Their presence helps in Frank's evolution and serves as an excuse for the most hilarious (and sometimes hard to believe) anecdotes. Even like that, they all have a sad situation with which they live.

I had issues with Frank. I did not find him a likable person, and I was quite bothered with his compulsive liar attitude. This usually happened when he was out with friends and could have contributed to me not enjoying those parts. I felt like screaming to him to grow up.

Josh Brogadir really became Frank in this story. He was able to transmit Frank's carefree attitude and bring it to life. He also delivered different voices for all the characters. Something that I found odd was the voice Brogadir gave to Travis, the lesbian living with Frank. She had a deeper voice than most men in the book. I heard a bit of background noise during the recording, which disappeared at the end of each chapter.

Leprechauns...demi-gods...Oh, my!

Cynthia St. Aubin has written another fantastic book. This one picks up right where the previous book ended. I don't want to spoil anything about the book by saying to much. I will say, there are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. I'm enjoying this series!

I have listened to the audio version of this book and loved it! Holly Jackson has done a fabulous job (as always) of bringing these characters to life. I'm looking forward to getting the rest of the series when they become available.

I laughed so much I almost made rainbow soup

Cynthia has a magical way of putting together words and Hollie has a way of reading them that had me laughing like a loon. I'm definitely going to go listen to book one now and order book three for when it comes out.

The characters were so fun yet lifelike. And Flick's full name....oh my stars, I spit my tea across my papers laughing. Julie, Matilda, Liam and Crixus are definitely my new go to book friends when I need a laugh. Thank you Cynthia for giving me this to listen to.

Not the best but ok

Matilda Schmidt is still being pretentious, horny, multitasking all while trying to avoid being killed. That is even a lot for the doctor. To add to her day, Crixus, the demigod, is pressing for his turn in her panties. What is a woman to do? What Matilda does will be entertaining.

Everybody's carrying around at least a little Matt Grzbc inside, but nobody's captured that torturous and hilarious anxiety better than Andy Mozina in "Contrary Motion." I adored this book, because of the heartbreaking depiction of (divorced) fatherhood, but also because of the portrait of someone trying like a bastard - doubting and loathing himself every step of the way - to get somewhere in the often vicious world of the arts, and finally, actually, making it.

Author brings light to life as a musician

Great job done by the author as he the life of a struggling musician. If only all musicians could make a living at their craft how the arts would flourish. His parallel struggle to build his relationships and his sexual identity is a very common modern theme. Loved the book and look forward to reading more from this author.
