Title: Introduction to the Prophets

Author: Bill Creasy

Narrator: Bill Creasy

Format: Original Recording

Length: 42 mins

Language: English

Release date: 04-10-17

Publisher: Logos Bible Study

Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes

Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Bibles

Publisher's Summary:

As we move through the Bible, we encounter both oral and writing prophets. Elijah and Elisha, for example, are oral prophets, neither one writes anything that we know of. We simply have their stories in 1 & 2 Kings, stories about what they said and did. Writing prophets, on the other hand, write books. Prophets like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel and the twelve Minor Prophets commit what they have to say to writing, sometimes in long books like Isaiah (66 chapters), and other times in short books like Obadiah (1 chapter).

Whether oral or writing, major or minor, prophets are not fortunetellers who look down the long corridor of history and predict things. Rather, a prophet always speaks or writes into his own historical context: What he says will always have an immediate application during the time in which he lives. In this lecture we will meet the writing prophets and we will learn how to read them.

Editorial Reviews:

Dr. Bill Creasy of Logos Bible Study uses a literary, historical approach to examine and enliven the bible for modern listeners. Dr. Creasy draws on his studies, travels, and personal anecdotes to vividly depict the works of scripture. He speaks in a pleasant, friendly voice but with authority, frequently incorporating contemporary references. The programs are a lively combination of a sermon and college lecture.

In this episode, Dr. Creasy discusses Introduction to the Prophets.

Yes, especially with my family so they can fully understand Genesis. I always appreciate biblical commentary because it makes it easier for the average person to understand. Thanks guys!

Awful presentation.

Great work on the translation!

This book did an awesome job at translating Biblical text. There's definitely no other audiobook of it's kind. It's truly impressive- all the work the author has put in to translating historical text and making sure it's as accurate as possible.

Good reference source for understanding

This book is great for being able to side by side read different translations with footnotes about the history or back story surrounding the different passages of the Book of Daniel.

Not exactly what I expected

Although the content of this book is accurate, that is, a copy of the book of Daniel, I was under the impression it was to be in commentary form. I was somewhat disappointed because I already had this book, as written, in my Bible. If you do not have a viable, this would be good reading.

Daniel , line up wioth the WORD OF GOD

GREAT but I check everything to make sure it lines up with the word of GOD ALMIGHTY! Always seek the ALmighty for guide lines in HIS WORD!

Daniel and Revelation

it is an excellent commentary on the book of Daniel and it's strong relationship with the book of Revelation. An excellent resource for study of both books

Follows Scripture

Read it like you would your Bible because it follows Scripture. Like I said about the other books, it is worth what you pay for it even if you read at it, more or less. I'm not sorry to have it on my E-bookshelf.
