Definitelly worth the price and the time it took

I love audible because I seldom have time to sit down and read a book, but when I do have time to read I want to make the most of it. I treated this book differently than most I listen to. I sat at my desk with the provided printout and "went to school". The book has lots of activities it asks you to do. By the end of this short book I did improve my speed, but more than that I learned what things I need to keep improving if I want to read significantly faster. I believe this book was a very good investment of my time.

Fast, Easy, Effective!

What did you love best about Speed Reading for Success?

At first I questioned if I wanted to use one of my credits on a book that was just over an hour, but this program is so efficient that that is all it takes.

I am dyslexic and have ADD bad. I was reading below the average rate yet my hunger for knowledge desperately wanted me to learn to speed read. I love to read dispute my disability. I do a little each week and now I am reading at a rate twice as fast as the average and retaining so much more.

Boosted my business writing confidence

Very easy to listen to, with lots of resources and exercises to try in the accompanying pdf. I was mainly interested in learning how to write better reports and how to follow the principles of plain English. Jane's practical guidance on this is great - simple & clear - but she also covers all the important points to bear in mind when writing emails, letters, minutes, memos etc. The short section on grammar and punctuation not only helps you get the apostrophes in the right place: it also gives reliable answers to many of those tricky questions (its/it's, the team is/the team are, etc) which so often catch us out. Well worth buying.

Most Enjoyable

This is one of the books I enjoyed reading the most. Hats off to the author and the narrator

Painful to listen to unless you are 20 something

What would have made Get-It-Done-Guy's 9 Steps to Work Less and Do More better?

Less of the quirky personality of the author. He had good points however the delivery method depended on being on his weird wavelength. Injections about things such as zombies to make his point were funny at first, tired in the end.

Would you ever listen to anything by Stever Robbins again?

If his style matures, the book is written to amuse the 20 something crowd.

Would you be willing to try another one of Stever Robbinss performances?

Not likely that I would spend the time or money.

I listened to the book several months ago and just remember feeling, good points but awful delivery. Too many of his personal experiences etc I could not relate with.

Thanks to your work, now I can't sleep, Stever!

This is a superb audiobook. I listen to many, and do not use effusive praise lightly. I usually listen to audiobooks and podcasts before bed, to help me relax before sleep. Get-it-done-guy is one of my favorites, and the 10 minutes or so usually offered is a great break from my day. Stever tickles my funny bone like he put "make this girl laugh" on his life map. But now that I have so many hours of his humor, all in one place, and it is so good - both well written and educational in a "stop what you're doing and reorganize your life right now" kind of way - how is it that I am supposed to get any sleep? I keep giggling out loud and waking up my husband, who then listens himself and then chuckles so loudly that I still can't sleep, even though husband has stolen the earphones. What the heck!?! Here is the part of the review where I would say that Stever is a cross between "insert business guru here" and "insert comedian's name here", but he is such an original that comparisons are useless. Go get an episode of the podcast. Any will do. If you do not laugh, go buy a "How to get a sense of humor" audiobook instead. If you laugh, or change your life for the better, or - most likely - change your life for the better while figuring out how to invest in the Depends brand so you can listen to more, then you should buy this audiobook. Possible also while buying the hard copy so you can use a highlighter for the good parts. S'what I did, and look how happy I am. Well, except for the not being able to sleep part...

Who better than the come back Princess Venus to do a book like this. Got the collectable with a real magic marker signature that bled through page! Her ever positive outlook shines through as it does everything she touches, should be required reading in junior high and high school! Venus is a guiding star on and off the tennis court!

A Mishmash

This book is a mishmash of clips from a variety of authors. There is very little cohesiveness to the book. If you want to sample some of the authors, then it might be worth a listen, but I would advise you to buy individual works from the various authors.

Great Pep Talk

I admit, I ordered this book not only for content, but because I love the author/narrator's accent. The book was encouraging, and gives many ideas for changing our perception of any situation and keeping a positive outlook on life. If you need a pep talk, this is a great book.

New age, but not new age

Seemed fairly obvious that Heppell's trying to attract the anti-The Secret crowd by implying "I'm not one of 'them'." But, to a certain extent, he is.

If I had to summarize his main point: don't ever be defeatist! Still, there are echoes of "thoughts are things" and he ends with advice to use a pendulum to find lost objects. I don't have a problem with that, but wanted to head off folks later claiming they were expecting something some "scientific" (psychology).

Value? Good, but not great.

Heppell at his best

I have read all Michael Heppells books and this is right up there with the best. He's like the renegade magician that wants to tell the world how they perform their tricks.

In this book Heppell wants to tell the reader how to coach herself easily and successfully, and he does!

He uses some incredibly powerful techniques that I use with clients to good effect, but delivers them in a very easy to understand manner so that anybody can benefit.

Flip It is a very cool resource for anybody that wants to flip their life around and get better results in all areas. Oh, and it'll also make you laugh, so what's not to love about that?

An exercise in stating the obvious

This is real lowest common denominator stuff written and read in a rather patronizing manor. Go and check out some of Brian Tracy's stuff instead

However if your in a dole Que it might really help.

Not A Self-Help Book

Outstanding book, but as other reviewers have noted, it's not the light, airy kind of business book that tells a person not to cross their arms in work place conversation.

It is a serious book that deals with real and consequential human behavior. The author draws on his own experience as a military interrogator, and cites a lot of well established research while not falling in to the trap of dogmatic thinking on the matter. (Maslow's hierarchy may not be 100% accurate, but for anyone who has lived long enough with an objective attitude towards truth seeking knows that Maslow's hierarchy is at least a pretty good outline. And the author uses Maslow in just such a fashion; not dogmatically, but in a very practical manner.)

This book is far superior to any of those light and airy business and self-help books on similar subjects as it delves into the nuts and bolts of human nature. If it seems too technical or negative, that perception is born of the reader/listener who is not comfortable confronting the full spectrum of our human nature with all of its highs and lows.

Not applicable to most

An interesting book, but not applicable to most. The concepts of interrogation are fun to listen to, but I listened to this book twice and still can't think of anything I would ever use in real life. The title is misleading, it should say something along the lines of "how to get answers." Or "How to tell if someone is lying." It's really a book on fine-tuning these two skills. Unless you have no intuition, or no idea how to read one's emotions, well even so, this book is not for you. If your interested in becoming an interrogator, buy the book, but don't listen to it. The author is long winded, and sneaks in useful information only randomly. Also the monotone of the narrator makes it difficult to tell when something important is coming up. Like I said, I had to listen to it twice to make sure I didn't miss anything.
