Great advice

Using the acronym "CARESS" as a mnemonic to cover the main points to listen better to anyone, in any circumstances, is clever and effective. This audiobook provides many examples and useful exercises to try as soon as you want. I would recommended this audiobook to anyone who wants to improve their listening skills but is not quite sure where to start.

A blast from the past!

While this book was written in the 1930's it contains information that is currently being released by folks such as Wayne Dyer ("Change your thoughts..."), and contains information similar to that found in "The Secret". I found it fascinating that this information has been available for so many years. It was interesting to note the circumstances at the time of its writing (breakfast for two for 15 cents, etc). Certainly worth the time.

Great principles

This is a book that will help you get into a state of mind for earning large sums of money. However you must take action, and grab the bull by the horns if you expect any of them to work. Like they say "old habits die hard". the hardest part is always replacing habits that have been nurtured for a long time. If you are willing to take action and apply new behaviors then this book is for you.

Great Book

This book is the ideal listen for those who are struggling to seek the bright side of any situation they face. It's highly motivating, so convincing, and very well written. A valuable addition to your library.

Great Book, Bad Narrator

I love this book, and wanted an audio version...so I bought this one. I could barely make it through a chapter. The narration is too bold/strong/intense for me.

Mind Opening

I have been stuck in my thinking of product development. This has opened channels in my brain that have been dormant.

Great Inspiration and Direction

I have the book and have read it twice, highlighted points through out, typed a summary and review it often but wanted to have it on audio to drill it's points into my memory better and not miss any points.

I have allot of books on business, innovation, product development etc. and this book is my number one and recommend it to any creative entrepeneur/inventor.

They did a nice job with this book explaining how Edison went about his innovation methods and also how you can apply these principles to today's world.

The authors wrote a well thought out book discussing the methods for some of the Edison labs' accomplishments. I only wish they would not have abridged the book for the audible version, however there is much to be gained by listening to the book, nonetheless.

I enjoyed this book, it describes stories of Edisons life and his method for success, perseverance, thinking, and idea creation. The book provides many practical and easy to use tools, exercises, and examples that anyone can use to enhance your creativity, entrepreneurial, and business sense.

One thing I did not like about this book is that certain topics within the book seem to be introduced and then abruptly ended with little depth where as other subjects are covered in sufficient depth. This is likely due to the abridgment. Its too bad Audible doesnt have and unabridged version. I would probably give this book 5 stars if it were unabridged.

Monotone Obscurity!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Yes, I'd love it if William Stanek took a breath every once in a while, or changed the intonation in his voice just slightly now and then.

Not good, but...

I know Stanek's work and this is no fault of his. He's an excellent writer. This is my first technical audio book and I was very disappointed, it's just unbearable to listen to. If you think about it though, all the acronyms, command line stuff, etc. is it even possible to have a book this technical, be a good audio book. I appreciate the effort though.

content is good but....

2. It is very clear that the chap is reading from a script.

3. And most annoying, probably as a result of points 1 and 2. The whole content seems to be segmented in that it's like one of the recordings that you hear where-buy the sentance has been put together by pulling seperate words out of a database and then saying it in a sentance. The volume is also quite funny as well in that the guy goes up and down in pitch and no this is not an error on my playback. I've played it back on 3 items including teh latest iphone and have re-downloaded the book but still it is awful. One other thing - very expensive. This is only a subset of teh whole book that won't set you back more than about 20. I bought it to listen to whilst driving to and from work but the guy is so f****** annoying that I had to give up on it.

If this looks similar to my other review it's because it is! The same guy is narrating on this ebbok which once again manages to completly destroy the content. Read on for explanation.

A very good book!

I purchased The Adversity Advantage: Turning Everyday Struggles into Everyday Greatness for my nephew who is going through a tough time. He called me and told me that he has read this book cover to cover on three separate occasions. He said he get so much out of this book each time he reads it. It is well written and very helpful!
