Critic Reviews:
We are in uncharted territory. There are few people who any longer think that the world post-crisis will be anything like the world before. Ringland, Sparrow & Lusting provide a clear description of the way that leaders need to think in this new reality. In doing so, they give us hope. (Estelle Clark, Business Assurance Director, Lloyds Register)
Beyond Crisis is full of compelling reasons, clear advice and practical models to help almost any enterprise remain viable beyond the deeply unsettling systemic failures that characterise today's business environment. (Professor Richard David Hames, Dhurakilpundit University, Founding Director Asian Foresight Institute)
If you want to know how countries, companies and individuals can master the winds and the waves that will dominate the next decade, this is the audiobook for you. (Rupert Pennant-Rea, former editor of the Economist, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England)

Change for a Fast World
The authors of "Beyond Crisis" have an important contribution to make to all organizations going through changes in a turbulent world.
Part 1 of the book was a smooth and easy read, providing the background on where we are today and why. The authors build the case that the world is a rapidly changing place, one in which it is not realistic to hope to return to business as usual, based upon population growth and economic shifts. This sets the stage for a sense of urgency in looking at organizational change through a different light.
The rest of the book is incredibly comprehensive and rich in ideas on what is needed to transform an organization into a Purposeful Self-Renewing Organization (PS-RO), one that embraces change and renews itself by its very nature. One might become overwhelmed, not knowing where to start, when diving into the incredibly rich treatment provided by the authors. To help guide the potential reader, here are a couple of key concepts that stand out for me. A PS-RO needs to embrace and cultivate ingenuity, needs to have the necessary machinery in place, and needs a powerful narrative. With that in mind, one can dive into the pertinent parts of the book and focus upon key concepts and tools to adopt, adapt, and integrate into existing systems, driving one's organization into becoming a PS-RO. Therefore, what I suggest is to take in the book for what it is: an incredibly comprehensive and rich treatment on creating a PS-RO; from there, take careful note of concepts that jump out at you, then revisit the key topics that apply in your case.
Thriving in uncertain times
With a post-crash environment that is unpredictable, chaotic and fast-changing, it wouldn't be surprising if many organisations felt they lacked the right tools to deal with such frightening uncertainty. There are few guides to how to survive, let alone be successful when none of the old rules apply. But Beyond Crisis is one such guide-- and one that every hard-pressed executive should put on the shelf.
