Royce Fairbrother is the Founder of Fairbrother Construction.
A man that started this business (with his wife Thea) in 1972, and therefore recently celebrated an incredible 50 years of business.
From a small farm in the states Northwest, we discussed buying his first shed in 1972, to now having over 300 staff and being one of the state's leading construction businesses.
Royce talks about Fairbrother's guiding principles, and how they are the driving force behind the organisations ongoing success. Something he leads by example with and knows that they are one of the biggest keys to safe and secure growth.
Royce opened up on one of his greatest life challenges, which was understanding that his mature aged son had schizophrenia. 25 years ago, navigating mental health issues had its own set of challenges, but it was that challenge that shifted Royce's thinking and the way he viewed mental health as a whole.
But through that challenge (with the help of his staff) Royce and Thea developed the Fairbrother's Guiding Principles and Mission Statement - all of which, and above all else, puts people and their wellbeing first.
We spoke about the importance of honesty and integrity, always keeping your feet on the ground, the importance of community contribution, what inspires him, and of course, the importance of family support.
I have always been inspired by Royce's zest for life, and his passion for people, so it was an honor to have Royce agree to sit down with me.
Enjoy!
