Are you feeling kinda off at work lately? Like youâre doing all the ârightâ things, checking all the boxes, but still wondering, âIs this really it?â
If youâve been daydreaming about quitting your job, switching fields, starting something totally newâor just finding something that actually feels like youâtrust me, youâre not alone.
This week on the pod, weâre talking all things careers.
⨠Leaving the âSafeâ Job for Something That Feels Right
Shannon recently did the thing so many of us fantasize aboutâshe left her stable, âon paper perfectâ job because deep down, it just didnât feel right anymore.
Yeah, it was scary. But on the other side? She found more purpose, clarity, and that little spark that had been missing for a while.
If youâve ever felt stuck in a job that looks good from the outside but feels meh on the inside, her story is going to hit hard in the best way.
đ¸ Passion vs. Paycheck â The Eternal Struggle
Letâs be real: not everyone can just up and quit their job to chase a dream. Weâve got bills. Rent. Real-life responsibilities.
We donât pretend itâs easyâbut we do talk about how thereâs room to get creative. Maybe itâs a side hustle. Maybe itâs a slow transition. Or maybe itâs just finally giving yourself permission to ask, âWhat do I actually want?â
You donât have to choose between stability and joy. Thereâs a way to make space for bothâyou just have to figure out what that looks like for you.
đ§ That Gut Feeling? Yeah⌠Trust It.
You know that little voice inside you? The one thatâs been whispering, âSomethingâs not rightâ? Yeah. That voice usually knows whatâs up.
Shannon shared how she knewâbefore she really knewâthat it was time to move on. Even when everything looked âfine,â her gut was saying otherwise. And trusting that instinct, even when it didnât fully make sense, was the beginning of everything shifting for her.
So if youâve been feeling low-key anxious or stuck lately, maybe take a second to tune in. Your body and brain are a lot wiser than we give them credit for.
đŹ Itâs Not Just the JobâItâs the People
Another thing we got into? Work culture.
Because letâs be honestâyour job title and salary could be great, but if your team is draining or the vibes are off? That impacts your day-to-day.
We talked about how much it matters to feel safe, supported, and seen at workâand how sometimes itâs not the job that needs to change, itâs the environment.
đ Redefining Ambition (You Donât Have to Be âClimbingâ)
This part hit home: Georgia has been in the same role for a while now, and guess what? Thatâs totally okay.
Weâve been conditioned to believe ambition always means chasing more. More titles, more money, more hustle. But what if ambition could also mean staying in a role that aligns with your values, gives you breathing room, and lets you live your life?
Youâre allowed to define success on your terms.
đĄFeeling Lost? Same. And Itâs Okay.
If you're thinking, âCool, but I have no clue what I actually want to doââyouâre not broken. Youâre just in the middle of figuring it out.
Sometimes thereâs no clear plan, just curiosity. And thatâs more than enough to start. Try something. Mess it up. Start again. Youâre learning as you goâjust like the rest of us. Absolutely! Hereâs a blog segment version of your textâformatted cleanly, with a warm, conversational tone thatâs still reflective and thoughtful. It fits perfectly into a blog post about career transitions, self-discovery, or intentional living:
âď¸ A Journaling Prompt That Changed My Perspective
One of the most helpful exercises Georgiaâs done recently came from a simple journal prompt:
âWhat would your everyday look like if bills werenât an issue?â Like, hypothetically, if money wasnât a factorâif you didnât have to earn a certain amount to surviveâ
* What would you be doing with your time?
* Who would you spend your days with?
* Where would you live?
* How would you feel when you woke up in the morning?
It sounds basic, but sitting down and really writing it all out was surprisingly powerful. It helped me uncover what I truly valueânot just what I think I âshouldâ value. It gave me insight into what I want more of in my life right now, even with the realities of work and bills and adulting.
And honestly? It was kind of validating. As I answered those questions, I realized⌠I'm already doing a lot of the things I imagined in that "ideal" version of my life. Maybe not perfectly or all at once, but stillâit was a reminder that Iâm not as far off as I thought.
Sometimes, we just need to pause and ask ourselves: Am I already closer to the life I want than I realize?
And no, itâs not a test. Youâre not trying to âget it right.â Itâs just about being honest with yourselfâand maybe giving yourself credit for how far you've already come.
